Hiscox Cottage in Devon is highly praised for its stunning views, peaceful setting, and friendly owners. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities, the presence of animals, and the property's cleanliness. The enclosed garden is a hit with dog owners, and the conservatory is a favourite spot for relaxation. Some minor issues with comfort and maintenance are noted, but overall, guests are delighted with their stays and often express a desire to return.
Most guests find the cottage to be clean and tidy, with only a few isolated comments about cobwebs and a musty smell in one of the bathrooms. The positive remarks about cleanliness far outweigh the negatives, indicating a generally high standard of cleanliness.
The location is consistently lauded for its amazing views and peacefulness. The presence of animals and proximity to local attractions add to the charm. Some guests find the narrow Devonshire roads challenging, but the secluded and picturesque setting is considered a significant advantage.
The comfort of the cottage receives mixed reviews. While many guests find the cottage comfortable and well-equipped, there are several mentions of uncomfortable beds and issues with the upstairs bedroom's sloped ceiling. The conservatory is highlighted for its relaxing atmosphere.
Facilities are generally well-received, with guests appreciating the well-stocked kitchen and additional amenities like table tennis. However, there are comments about the need for maintenance, such as improving water pressure and replacing dining chairs, which slightly lower the score.
While guests mention receiving a warm welcome and there are positive comments about the owners' hospitality, there is no specific mention of gifts. Therefore, it is not possible to assess the thoughtfulness based on gifts, and the score is set to null.

It is well suited for those who are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday. The property is well cared for but as with all holiday lets late in the season signs of wear are bound to appear and not necessarily noticed by the owner therefore feedback is important. The downstairs bathroom is in need of some work, in particular the cracked floor with loose tiles and a split wooden toilet seat. The heating cab a bit tricky but if user instructions are left for occupants then that can encourage fidelitus, and this can make matters worse. Therefore âautoâ mode needs to be reliable. All in all, we had a great stay.

Location was fab. Beautiful views. Clean, comfortable and well resourcedâ¦everything we required. Easy for us to keep clean e.g. lots of cleaning products, hoover, brushes etc⦠All white goods in perfect, clean condition. Great for our little 4 pawed members of the familyâ¦lovely walks, back garden grass for a good run, ruff & tumble etc. Would highly recommend this property. Thank you very muchâ¦

The owner was helpful and very friendly. Our only negative comment would be that the photos of clay pigeon shooting and archery should be removed from the listing since the was no sign of either activity.
