1. Lostwithiel

Best for: Antiques

Lostwithiel is a pretty little town nestled in a magical wooded valley, at the heart of an area of outstanding natural beauty. Wander along the River Fowey, explore the coast of South Cornwall or amble around the town’s charming antique and art shops.

Dog-friendly walk: Restormel Castle Walk takes you along quiet country roads, through woods and across meadows to the castle climb.

Dog-friendly place to stay: Little Breoke is a cute and contemporary lodge that offers a couple a snug space to call home during their visit. 

2. Padstow

Best for: Coastal charm

Padstow is a busy fishing port at the head of the Camel River. There are lots of sandy beaches nearby and the town is the perfect base for exploring the North Cornwall coastline.

Dog-friendly walk: Hike out across the headland for spectacular sea views from the Padstow and Stepper Point Walk.

3. St Austell

4. Looe

5. St Ives

Best for: Something for everyoneVoted as one of the best destinations for family holidays, there’s an abundance of activities and attractions in and around St Ives. There’s something for everyone. Golden beaches, fantastic surf, fabulous eateries and proximity to the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and national park. 

Dog-friendly walk: Carbis Bay Beach is a great spot for a paddle, toddle and a game of fetch. Dogs are allowed on the sand from October to May.

Dog-friendly place to stay: Heather Brae Lodge is a compact but cosy one-bedroom lodge perfectly located for visiting both St Ives and Penzance.
