Guests say

Lyreboy is a well-received cottage offering a peaceful, rural getaway amidst the Kerry mountains. Guests appreciate the clean, spacious accommodation and the warm welcome from hosts Vera and Paul. The property's remote location is ideal for nature lovers and those seeking tranquillity. While some find the decor dated, the charm of the surroundings and the thoughtful touches, such as welcome gifts, contribute to a pleasant stay.

Guests consistently mention that the cottage is kept very clean, with several reviews highlighting the cleanliness of the bungalow. The attention to detail by the hosts in this regard is well appreciated.

The location is praised for its tranquillity and proximity to nature, with easy access to lakes and hiking trails. However, some guests note the remoteness and the drive required to reach amenities, which might not appeal to everyone.

The cottage is described as comfortable and spacious, with large rooms and a woodburner adding to the cosy atmosphere. Some guests mention the furniture is quite old, which may affect the overall comfort for some visitors.

While the cottage is equipped with necessary facilities and guests are generally satisfied, there are comments about the heating system needing maintenance and the decor being tired. The lack of Wi-Fi and modern amenities is noted by some guests.

The hosts are frequently commended for their thoughtfulness, including welcome gifts such as milk, butter, and cake. It is important to note that while these gestures are greatly appreciated, they are personal touches and may not be a consistent feature for all stays.

The owner was so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The washing machine wasn't working and she offered to do it for us. We were blown away with the views and waking up every day with the sheep for company was a real treat! I think we may be back and back again.

We left the cottage clean and tidy. A very big thank you to the owners of Lyle boy cottage. Would stay again.

The bungalow and area exceeded our expectations in every respect. We knew Paul and Vera would be lovely hosts, ...and they were particularly understanding with our children who loved the friendly sheep dogs. The beds were all very comfortable and the house is warm, spacious, quiet and easy to keep clean. It's a great house if you have limited mobility. There are small waterfalls on the Cottoners river just 50m from the house and you can hear them constantly outside the back door. I adore the sound of a running river. The hydro track that leads to Lough Echter (300m climb) and then on to Caher and Carrauntoohil peaks (900m climb) is only 600 metres away with a spacious car park. If you have the time/energy/weather/courage to complete the horseshoe walk, you will enjoy one of the finest hikes in the whole of Ireland! And it's all right on your doorstep. We loved visiting Kate Kearney's Cottage pub with live Irish music, 7-9pm. There's the nearby Gap of Dunloe or going west there's the Ballaghbeama Gap or Ballaghasheen Pass and on to Waterville. All with stunning views and walks. We didn't find this house in any way remote...it's only 10 minutes back into Killorglin with Aldi and all the shops you need for your holiday. Killarney is only 25 mins away and the Torc waterfall nearby was stunning and only a 10 minute return walk from the car park. In summary this bungalow is a real gem, Paul and Vera have hearts of gold and as owners of our own holiday homes, we give this house, it's facilities, value and location our highest recommendation. We certainly hope to return next year!
