South Hill Farmhouse (22) is an enormous Grade Two Listed holiday home capable of accommodating up to 22 people in spacious surroundings. Once a local farmhouse, the property has been converted to provide 11 bedrooms and a wealth of bathrooms making it perfect for large family or group gatherings looking to enjoy the Cotswolds and Stow on the Wold. The owners have ensured that all elements for a large party have been considered: a large Dining Room , vast Living Room and a separate games room make it perfect for a relaxing and enjoyable break. The house is located on the Fosse Way, (this is the infamous main road between Cirencester and Stow)approx 5 mins from the heart of the heart of the market town of Stow on the Wold. The quality touches are evident throughout - Farrow and Ball colours, Robert Welch cutlery and Denby crockery all add to the appeal of this large holiday home. The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises olde worlde England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, this is a traditional fair for people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted; Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum.

The beds were blissfully comfortable, bathrooms and en-suites plentiful with lashings of hot water, dining room perfect for 22 of us to sit down to eat together, kitchen facilities wonderful with Aga and two ovens, games room a bit hit with all ages especially the younger members of our party, huge lounge good for playing party games and the snug was just that - very warm and cosy with the log burner (especially needed as we were there the weekend of Storm Darragh!). Everything you could possibly need was provided, including an incredible welcome hamper of locally-sourced goodies. The entrance is on a steep incline, directly off the main road and quite difficult to spot so we hung some Christmas lights and balloons on the sign outside, which meant that guests arriving in the dark could easily spot it. (We had taken heed of previous reviewers and advised people approaching the property from the north to continue down the hill and turn back up again, so they were not trying to cross lines of traffic.) Thank you for a perfect stay!

So well equipped and everything we needed for our family gathering of 19, aged from 16 months to 86 years of age plus dogs. A short walk in to Stow but a very busy three lane road to cross. Everyone appreciated the space and comfort which the house offers. The welcome hamper was greatly received, thank you.
