It is a pretty town with cobbled streets, quaint corners and a picnic area where “Frank’s Bridge” crosses the River Eden. There is a plethora of waling and cycling, the settle-Carlisle railway line and many more attractions waiting to be discovered. Kirkby Stephen lies at the foot of the Howgill Fells in the upper Eden Valley, with a traditional market place, shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs for every taste and budget. You can enjoy a picnic by “Frank’s Bridge”, which crosses the River Eden, while just a mile from the town, the old railway station connects to the Settle-Carlisle Railway line, for a family day out. There are many walks and cycle routes to try with the whole of the Lake District National Park and the Yorkshire Dales easily reached.
