Chevinside Cottage in Belper is a well-loved holiday rental praised for its peaceful location, stunning views, and friendly owners. Guests appreciate the cosy atmosphere, the proximity to local amenities, and the charming character of the cottage. The presence of farm animals adds to the rural experience, and the property serves as a good base for exploring the Peak District & Derbyshire Dales.
Most guests found the cottage clean and well-maintained, though there were a few mentions of cleanliness issues such as stained carpets and a dirty kitchen. These seem to be isolated incidents rather than the norm.
The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, beautiful views, and proximity to local attractions and amenities. The rural setting on a farm adds to the charm, although the access track is noted to be steep.
Guests generally found the cottage cosy and warm, especially with the open fire. However, there were comments about uncomfortable beds and the need for mattress replacement, which suggests room for improvement in this area.
There is not enough information to accurately score the facilities and maintenance. While there are positive comments about the well-equipped kitchen and the provision of logs for the fire, specific references to the overall facilities and their maintenance are limited.
The owners are frequently mentioned as friendly and helpful, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. A welcome pack was suggested by one guest, indicating that while thoughtful touches are appreciated, they are not consistently provided.

It's warm and cosy with everything that you need. The owners are very friendly, lovely people who welcome you on your arrival. The garden was perfect for our dog with plenty of room to play and relax. There are many walks directly from the cottage so no need to drive anywhere if you don't want to. Belper, an attractive and busy very old market town is close by for provisions and definitely worth a visit. The only personal criticism was that the main bed was a little too soft for me but that's it. We had a nice relaxing time and will book again in the future. Paula & Co Xx

Kitchen and bathroom had not been cleaned from previous customers (faeces on toilet seat, crumbs on worktop). Sheets did not smell fresh. We spent as little time there as possible

However, we felt that the differing floor levels and steps should be mentioned in the property details as this would affect those with mobility issues. The kitchen area was really good but some of the furnishings and light fittings elsewhere were a bit tired. Look out for the field full of pheasants behind the cottage and bats at dusk.
