The owners have gone to a lot of trouble to provide a spotlessly clean and well equipped property. There are lots of ‘extras’ - shower gels, bath salts, boxes of tissues, food wraps in the kitchen. Ample cleaning products including dishwasher tabs and washing powders. The welcome basket was most generous and included treats for our dog. The dog wash was a particular asset, along with the dog bowls, blankets, towels etc. The owners have an eye for detail and a knack for making a rental feel like a home. For dog walkers and hikers there are a wealth of well walked, well maintained footpaths that crisscross the village in the immediate area. The only downside (and it isn’t anything the owners can do to change) is the main road outside of the cottage. Yes it is clearly mentioned in the cottage description but we weren’t prepared for just how incredibly busy it is. This road is in constant use by cars & HGVs, most of whom seen incapable of sticking to the 30mph speed limit. The footpaths alongside the road are like having a ‘near death’ experience when walking along them to the village shop/ pubs as the traffic passes so close. We also had the misfortune to be staying when the 3 manhole covers outside the cottage in the road are in need of repair. Just about every passing vehicle hits them causing a very loud bang that rattles through the house. We didn’t need to use the downstairs bedroom which was just as well as the noise in that room was extra loud because the room is right by the manhole covers.

Its by a main road and could not really hear the traffic apart from the 3 grids right outside that need maintenance as lots of loud kerdunks! From 5.30am. Not the owners fault at all but something to consider. Beds and furniture comfy. Bathroom beautiful.

We found it to be clean, spacious and very comfortable and much appreciated the welcome pack (though I somehow managed to leave the bakewell tart in the cupboard when we left!). There were many things that we appreciated eg the dining table with plenty of space for six adults, the coffee machine AND the pods to go with it and the SMART TV . I think it it a bit optimistic to say there is parking for four cars. W struggled to manoeuvre two cars in the space available, especially as you are trying to avoid having to reverse out onto a busy main road. The kitchen was very well equipped except that we would love to have had more mugs. Six mugs for six adults is minimal and makes for frequent washing up. All in all though, a great place to stay, we would recommend it.
