Guests say

William Court Cottage is praised for its beautiful location and well-equipped kitchen, with many guests expressing a desire to return. The property offers a comfortable stay with ample walking opportunities and a nearby pub. While some maintenance issues are noted, these do not significantly detract from the overall positive experience.

The property generally receives positive remarks on cleanliness, with most guests finding it clean upon arrival. However, there are isolated comments about the need for a deeper clean in certain areas, such as shower mould, which slightly impacts the overall perception.

The location is highly praised for its stunning setting and proximity to walking paths and local attractions. The presence of wildlife and the scenic grounds of Irton Hall add to the charm, making it a favoured aspect among guests.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the cottage homely, contributing to a restful stay. However, there are comments about the need for better mattresses and additional seating, which suggests room for improvement in comfort levels.

The cottage is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and guests appreciate the inclusion of Wi-Fi. Nonetheless, recurring mentions of maintenance issues, such as loose taps and a problematic key safe, indicate that the facilities could be better maintained.

There is insufficient information regarding any thoughtful gestures or gifts provided by the property owners, as no reviews mention such details. Therefore, a score cannot be given for this category.

A superb, terraced, Lakeland cottage in the grounds of the Irton Hall Estate, a mile from the village of Santon Bridge, four miles from Wastwater. The accommodation in this welcoming Lake District cottage has been decorated and furnished to a very good standard, and is delightful both as a relaxing romantic retreat and a cosy family base, all set amidst wonderful Lakeland countryside. There is solid oak flooring throughout the ground floor, a king-size bed in the main bedroom, a pellet woodburning stove in the sitting room and a well-equipped kitchen. Great bike trails are available in the area, there is a local pub with excellent food, a lovely local tea room, Muncaster Castle is a short drive away, or why not enjoy a round on the nearby 18-hole golf course or a ride on the miniature railway in nearby Eskdale? A wonderful Lake District cottage for a superb holiday. Note: This cottage is close to Ref. 3977, together they sleep 8.

Irton Hall sits at the foothills of the Western fells and is situated amongst breathtaking lakeland countryside. Irton Hall lies just a couple of miles from Santon Bridge and Eskdale Green and is steeped in history with Oliver Cromwell and Henry VI both visiting the Irton Hall Estate. The area around Irton Hall is a walker's haven with many peaks, just as Scafell, Great Gable and Hard Knott and valleys, just as Eskdale and Wasdale all nearby. Other attractions in the area that are well worth visiting are Muncaster Castle, the World Owl Centre and the Ravenglass to Eskdale miniature railway, plus Wastwater - the deepest lake in the country and St Olaf's - the smallest church . Messaged first contact and no reply. Couldn't bath children. Moved bed in double room to accommodate baby as travel cot was mouldy even though they were advised 12 months previous. Dining table and chairs unstable for children. Baby gate had parts missing, so unable to use. No smart tv. WIFI goes off all the time. OK for adults who just want to crash. Wouldn't recommend taking children

. Superb location, Irton Hall is beautiful, I have stayed in the hall before, the food and service is fantastic. Cute cottage, ample room for 3 three and a dog, the property has the majority of contents you would need for a home from home, WiFi is good. I would love to come back if improvements were made. Needs improvement.... There is a lot of maintenance needed at this property as people have already said: we had no TV the whole time we were there zero signal, the seat in the kitchen is broken and uncomfortable to sit on, the taps downstairs need fixing as does the hot tap in the bath, the grill needs fixing it cuts out halfway through grilling, either the electrics or appliance need fixing we put the fan heater on and within 5 minutes the plug was hot and it cut out seemed dangerous, the banister is loose, the toilet constantly flows which must be wasting a lot of water, the property could do with some extra lighting downstairs it is very dark, not all the windows open, the window in the second bedroom is very drafty, there is a big bright light outside that shines in the bedroom all night and there isn't enough coverage on the curtains to stop it lighting up the room unfortunately. About Sykes itself..... Not enjoyed booking with them, they are not as easy to contact as Booking.com or Air B&B. They are very inflexible. I wanted to extend the time I was staying by 4 nights and nearly had to pay the same amount as 7 nights which I thought was not very good. There's always a cleaning fee built in and the property is not very clean (we had to clean it on arrival, floors were filthy) and yet you are having to pay double a cleaning fee in the price. Sykes are not as good at responding as other sites I have used either.

We loved our stay and will stay again. Hats off to all the staff at Irton Hall, we attended their News Years Eve meal, and was very well organised. Thanks for a great stay.
