Guests say

Ashness is a well-received cottage in a peaceful village, praised for its comfort, cleanliness, and well-equipped kitchen. Guests appreciate the cosy atmosphere, with a fireplace and tasteful decor, and find it a great base for exploring the local area. The welcoming hosts and thoughtful touches, such as a welcome wine, add to the positive experience, although this is not guaranteed for all stays. Some minor issues with dampness and shower pressure were noted, but overall, guests are highly satisfied and often express a desire to return.

The cottage is consistently described as clean and tidy, with only one mention of damp issues which seems to be an isolated case. The majority of guests found the property to be well-maintained and spotless.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity and proximity to local walks and a friendly pub. It is considered an ideal base for exploring the northern Lake District, with Keswick just a short drive away.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the living spaces cosy, contributing to a relaxing stay. Some guests mentioned the bed being too soft for their preference, and one noted the lack of a secure garden area for dogs.

The cottage is well-equipped with a kitchen that has everything needed, and additional amenities like a fireplace. Some guests suggested improvements such as a hair dryer, better instructions for appliances, and a solution for drying clothes. The mention of dampness and low shower pressure slightly affects this score.

Several guests mentioned thoughtful touches like a welcome bottle of wine and a wood burner ready to use. However, as these gifts are not guaranteed for every guest, the score reflects the overall thoughtfulness put into the guest experience.

The cottage was super cosy, and a fair bit bigger than other cottages I've stayed in for a similar price. It was a perfect base for me and my dog to explore the North Lakes. We even got to know some of the friendly neighbours on the village green! I would absolutely recommend the cottage to a friend.

The owners were very friendly and welcoming, the comfort was first class with all the amenities one could need, including a great local pub 50 yards up the road.
