Guests say

Guests consistently praise 'Squirrels Leap' for its immaculate condition, superb location with stunning views, and cosy comfort. The lodge is well-equipped, and the thoughtful touches, such as welcome gifts, are highly appreciated. Its proximity to Keswick and nature trails makes it an ideal retreat for both relaxation and exploration.

Reviewers are unanimous in their appreciation of the lodge's cleanliness, often describing it as immaculate or spotless. The high standard of cleanliness is a recurring theme, indicating meticulous maintenance.

The lodge's location is frequently highlighted as outstanding, with its peaceful setting, proximity to Keswick, and easy access to local attractions and nature. The views of the mountains and the convenience for dog walking are particularly noted.

Comfort is well-regarded, with guests finding the lodge cosy and the beds comfortable. However, there is a single mention of the bed being less comfortable, which slightly impacts the otherwise excellent perception of comfort.

Facilities are generally praised for being well-equipped and maintained, with everything needed for a self-catering stay. There are positive comments about the kitchen and the secure veranda for pets. A suggestion for a fan and a mention of a hard bed indicate room for minor improvements.

The thoughtfulness of the hosts is evident through the mention of welcome gifts such as prosecco and chocolates. While these gestures are greatly appreciated, it is important to note that such personal touches, though delightful, are subject to the hosts' discretion and may vary.

About this property

With panoramic views of the Lakeland fells and positioned just a stone's throw away from the town centre, Squirrels Leap makes the perfect spot for a holiday with your better half. Enjoy the luxuries of this lodge from the moment you step inside, turn on the electric fire in the living room and drink in those countryside views from your patio windows as you rest on one of the sofas. You may have travelled far and wide to visit this delightful part of the UK, so a glass of wine and time to relax might be just what you need when you arrive. You can rustle up a lovely meal in the kitchen, which has an electric oven and hob as well as a slimline dishwasher, so you don't have to worry about the washing up afterwards - what a delight! Catch your rest in the double bedroom once you've had a warm bath to soak your muscles or wake up to a refreshing shower in the morning instead, the Jack-and Jill bathroom has both. If you love the great outdoors, you will be thrilled to find that the grounds of the lodge are at the foot of Skiddaw and Latrigg fells, and you can even enjoy nature right from your patio where there is a seating area for you to relish a balmy summer's evening. Keswick has plenty of amenities close by including shops, pubs, its famous Theatre by the Lake and a cinema for those rainier days. The charming Derwentwater lies to the south of the town and can be accessed via well-maintained footpaths. There are many easy ‘miles without stiles’ walking routes you can take in the area, as well as many challenging hikes over high peaks. For those who enjoy skiing, the Lake District Ski Club is just over 6 miles away situated near the top of one of England’s highest mountains and has up to nine runs, the longest being almost a mile. The wider area includes Scafell Pike, Grizedale and Windermere, each well worth a visit for something different and those who enjoy the coast can take a trip over to Whitehaven and St. Bees Head Heritage Coast. Squirrels Leap provides a lovely break for you and your loved one.

Keswick has plenty to offer those visiting the Lake District at any time of year, with a number of shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. There is also miniature golf, the famous Theatre by the Lake and great mountain and biking opportunities. We have stayed at other cabins in the lakes before but none of them cams close to this one ,a lovely cabin in a wonderful quiet setting which was close to where we wanted to be, spotlessly clean with everything in it that you could want ,we really can't wait to return there next year , absolutely brilliant

Views from the lodge were outstanding and bird feeders with attracted different birds which was good to watch. Although no DVD if you have an account with a streaming service you can log on to your account. The only down side was the bed was on the hard side for us and we had to turn off the air freshener as a bit overpowering. However we were pleased with the lodge with a nice lawn area by the side which was good for our two dogs.
