Inside Elterwater Barn is a well-equipped kitchen/diner which provides the chef of the group with a good space to cook up and serve some wonderful homemade dishes to share around the dining table. The heart of the home is undoubtedly the inviting sitting room, boasting a Smart TV and a toasty electric fire, creating a warm and welcoming space to unwind after a day of exploring the Cumbrian landscape. After the sun sets, you can take to the private patio to enjoy a favourite nightcap under the stars before turning in for a night of rest and relaxation. The property offers three beautifully presented bedrooms including a Superking-size with an elegant en-suite providing that added touch of privacy. The second bedroom has a King-size bed and the third is a twin, ideal for younger guests or friends sharing. After a good night's rest, the family bathroom can offer a soak in the tub or a refreshing shower. If you wish to venture beyond the comforts of Elterwater Barn, the local area promises an exciting range of activities and attractions. Literature lovers can visit the National Trust's Wordsworth House and Garden, at Cockermouth, the birthplace of the world-renowned poet, William Wordsworth. For a taste of local maritime and mining history, there's The Beacon Museum at Whitehaven on the coast.This visitor attraction is accessible all year round, packed with fascinating displays and interactive exhibits. In Whitehaven you’ll also find a welcome wet-weather attraction in the Rum Story, a unique offering that is located in the original 1785 premises, celebrating one of the oldest family-run wine and spirit merchants in the country - and Jefferson's rum tastes pretty good too! There is an aquarium at nearby Maryport and also a Clip & Climb climbing wall. For thrill-seekers, a treetop adventure awaits at Go Ape Whinlatter, where you can zip-line through the forest or explore the cycling trails with cycle hire available at Cyclewise Whinlatter Bike Hire Shop.The property is also on the route of the C2C cycle way from Whitehaven to Tynemouth. Adventurous nature lovers will delight in Scale Force, England's highest waterfall, located a few miles away between Crummock Water and Buttermere; a truly breathtaking sight. There are stunning walks right on the doorstep with hidden gem Cogra Moss a 20 minute walk away, this is also a well stocked fishing tarn with day permits available for angling enthusiasts. For longer routes you can continue on to climb Wainwrights Blake Fell & Burnbank fell with views of Loweswater at the top. The local pub also offers good food, is great for children and is dog friendly.

Enjoying a peaceful position within the English county of Cumbria is Cleator Moor, a small town resting just a few miles away from Whitehaven and the coastline. The town plays host to a number of amenities, including a handful of pubs, shops and other small businesses, as well as a Mart Square, where there are three sculptures by Conrad Atkinson, a local artist of international repute. Here, you will also find part of the West Cumbria Cycle Network, which form a portion of the C2C Cycle Route, from Whitehaven to Sunderland. Those with two-wheels can look forward to meandering along the route of the old Whitehaven, Cleator and Egremont and Rowrah and Kelton Fell Railways, which were once very active in the 1850s. The port town of Whitehaven is nearby and rests on the west coast of Cumbria, where you will find a larger selection of amenities, as well as a golf course, The Beacon Museum and the attraction of The Rum Story & Jefferson' Shop. During the summer months, be sure to spend time on the local beaches of Providence Bay Beach, Tanyard Bay Beach and Fleswick Bay or head to the Lake District National Park to uncover some great walking opportunities and other outdoor adventure. Cleator Moor is a delightful town for exploring further afield.
