Guests generally appreciate the cottage's comfortable setting, well-equipped kitchen, and peaceful location with beautiful views. The garden is a highlight for relaxing evenings. Some guests mention minor maintenance issues and cleaning oversights, but the overall sentiment is positive with many expressing a desire to return.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The majority of guests found the cottage to be clean and welcoming. However, there were several mentions of specific cleaning issues such as crumbs on fridge shelves, a dirty sock found under a bed, and musty smells in some areas. These instances suggest room for improvement in the cleaning regimen.

The location is highly praised for its tranquility, stunning views, and convenient access to the northern lakes, fells, and nearby towns. The proximity to walking paths and the ease of exploring the Lake District contribute to the high rating for location.

Guests describe the cottage as comfortable, cosy, and well-stocked with home comforts. Some guests noted issues with sofa comfort and a mattress feeling springs, but overall, the comfort level is regarded positively.

The cottage's facilities, including the well-equipped kitchen and woodburner, are appreciated. However, guests reported maintenance issues such as a hard-to-flush toilet, a hob not heating properly, and a leaky roof. These points suggest that while the facilities are good, there is a need for better upkeep.

This little town is spread across rolling countryside and is composed of many old farmsteads, traditional workmen's cottages and two churches. Penruddock can trace its history back to Celtic times, the name being derived from 'Pen', a Celtic word for 'hill' and 'rhuddawc' meaning red in Welsh and referring to the reddish brown colour of the soil found in the area. The popular town of Keswick is close by, boasting numerous shops and restaurants, as well as offering miniature golf, some good parks, the Century Theatre, a cinema and a beautiful lake. Penruddock itself offers easy access to the surrounding Cumbrian countryside and the southern Lakes, Solway Coast and Hadrian's Wall are all within easy driving distance.

House has everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Really good beds! Nice pub within walking distance (Herdwick Inn).

Well equipped cottage with everything you could need for a week away. Only minor issues was quite a strong damp smell when we arrived despite the good weather and some patches of mould in the kitchen cupboard resulting in musty crockery and some of the wooden spoons being unusable due to surface mould. Other than that we had an excellent stay and hope to come back in the future!
