How Beck Lodge in Cumbria offers stunning views and a peaceful location, with guests praising its well-equipped kitchen, spacious design, and comfortable living spaces. The proximity to attractions and the village of Hawkshead is appreciated, though some guests noted the walk can be muddy. The lodge's suitability for families and pets is a highlight, with many looking forward to returning.
Cleanliness received mixed reviews, with several guests finding the lodge well-maintained, while others reported issues with dust, outdated information files, and cleanliness of outdoor furniture. Some guests felt the need to clean upon arrival, which impacted their experience.
The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, stunning views, and proximity to local attractions and Hawkshead village. Guests enjoyed the scenery and found it ideal for exploring the Lake District, despite some concerns about the walk to the village.
Comfort levels were generally well-regarded, with guests mentioning comfortable living spaces and beds. However, some guests found the mattresses too soft or the beds too small, suggesting room for improvement in this area.
Facilities are appreciated, especially the well-stocked kitchen and the inclusion of a log fire. However, guests noted maintenance issues such as broken fridge shelves, stiff doors, and a need for updates to the property, which suggests that while the facilities are good, they require attention.
While guests have mentioned the provision of certain amenities and the well-equipped nature of the lodge, there is no consistent mention of gifts or thoughtful touches that would warrant a score in this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

The picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Visitors can wander the wealth of tiny alleyways, thoroughfares, archways and courtyards between the whitewashed 17th century houses. There are many pleasant inns, teashops, guest houses and gift shops in the village, as well as the Beatrix Potter Gallery, which houses an annually changing exhibition of the famous author’s illustrations and stories. The other famous Hawkshead enthusiast, William Wordsworth, attended the Old Grammar School in 1779-87, which still stands today, and you can visit the building where the Lakeland poet developed his love of the form, and even see the desk into which he scratched his name as a small boy! Newby Bridge is ten miles away and offers attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes and Windermere Lake Cruises, sailing daily between Ambleside, Bowness and Lakeside. With stunning scenery and numerous attractions within easy touring distance, Hawkshead is in an ideal location at any time of the year.

There were none of these things in this cottage. The cottage is also a treacherous walk on the road to Hawkshead. Apart from that it was clean, warm and nicely decorated. The view was also lovely!

Views from the Lodge are beautiful and you really feel like you are staying in the heart of the Lakes. Warm, comfortable and some great walks from the door. Hawkshead is only a short stroll to the village. Perfect holiday, helped by some wonderful autumn weather. Would highly recommend.

Itâs very cozy and it has everything you need! We had to unload the dishwasher when we got there, which was a little odd that it wasnât empty upon arrival. I think the whole lodge needs a freshen up, and in the master bedroom it could do definitely do with a kingsize bed at least, the bed was too small for us being 6â4 and 5â7! If there had been a bigger bed and the lodge had a freshen up all over it would be perfect
