To many who know the Lake District well, the Duddon Valley is the most beautiful and authentic area of the national park, where you could easily believe that time has stood still. Leave your car at this gorgeous cottage, ideal for families and friends looking for a rural retreat, to walk or cycle numerous paths and tracks directly from the farm. Alternatively, travel over the stunning Wrynose Pass (11 miles) and drop down through the Langdale Valley with walks for all abilities available at Little Langdale(20 miles).
This beautifully appointed and welcoming country-style house is the perfect retreat for hikers and those who love the great outdoors. Inside, a cosy lounge area with sofas and armchairs set around the coffee table, Smart TV and wood burner offers the perfect social space to relax after a day of adventure. The contemporary kitchen has all the appliances to cook up a storm, and the large dining table, a few steps down from the kitchen, is the ideal spot to enjoy a Lakeland breakfast or a beautiful home-cooked family dinner. There is a downstairs king-size bedroom along with the main shower room. On the first floor are two lovely bedrooms: one super-king-size and one twin. Head outside onto the patio area surrounded by beautiful countryside; there is plenty of space to explore for kids and any four-legged friends.
For cyclists looking for a challenge, take on the challenging Hardknott Pass (11 miles), the steepest road in England, or go by car, pausing at Hardknott Roman Fort (13 miles) before descending to Eskdale (18.5 miles) and the prospect of a hike up Scafell Pike (17.5 miles), England's highest mountain. At Wasdale (16.5 miles), there are opportunities to walk, try paddleboarding or kayaking or Grizedale Forest (19 miles) offers a fabulous range of mountain bike and walking trails for all ages and abilities.
