Located within the Lake District National Park, and near Lake Windermere and various local amenities and attractions, the characterful abode suits families and friends alike, looking to explore the Cumbrian countryside; six guests and one well-behaved dog is welcome. Benefit from a well-equipped kitchen and utility, before relaxing around the dining table or upon the plush leather sofas, encompassed by an original beamed ceiling. Enjoy a coffee or an afternoon tipple outside, selecting between the front and rear patio, both private and set within a tranquil area. When sleep calls, head upstairs to find three well-presented bedrooms, including two doubles and a twin, all serviced by a spacious bathroom. Once you're ready to venture out, take advantage of your proximity to Hawkshead, dotted with convenience stores, pubs, restaurants, and local attractions. Within walking distance, you will find Beatrix Potter Gallery and Hawkshead, and The Fitzwilliam Gallery, recommended for those who enjoy history, art, and culture, whilst Esthwaite Water Trout Fishery, and Coniston Water are a short car journey away, ideal for trout fishing or the chance to kayak across the national park. Lake Windermere is also accessible by car, enveloped by must-visit hotspots, including Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's former residence, whilst Claife Heights is the perfect challenge for avid hikers. Travelling towards Ambleside, enjoy leisurely strolls around Borrans Park and the stunning Stock Ghyll Force waterfall, whilst Wansfell Pike is a recommended walking route for those feeling energetic. Within the national park you'll also find Rydal Cave, Lakes Aquarium, and The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, all family-friendly attractions to add to your itinerary. Take advantage of your wonderful backdrop at Columbine Cottage.

The charming community of Hawkshead still possesses the personality that made it so appealing to its most well-known residents, Beatrix Potter, and William Wordsworth. Between the whitewashed 17th century homes, visitors can explore the abundance of little passageways, thoroughfares, archways, and courtyards. In addition to the Beatrix Potter Gallery, which hosts an annual changing display of the renowned author's pictures and stories, the village is home to several charming inns, teashops, guest houses, and gift shops. You may visit the location where the Lakeland poet developed his love of the form and even see the desk into which he wrote his name as a young child by visiting the Old Grammar School, which is still standing today. William Wordsworth is another well-known Hawkshead admirer.

The hob was a problem, it was difficult for us to use as once you had ccoked on any of the rings and turned them off, the "H" symbol appeared. if we then needed to put on another pan the rings, the rings with the "H" would not reheat so we were not able to use them for some time. With dinner to cook for 6 this was an annoyance each evening. perhaps the instructions could be made clearer.

It is prettily decorated and comfortable with all needs catered for. It's also in a great, central, location. We would recommend it to anyone. However, a couple of little niggles, if sorted, would make it perfect. The french doors into the little front garden didn't open (key didn't work) so we were unable to sit there which was a shame. And the front door snib didn't work so we had to be careful not to lock ourselves out! Also, the cooker and hob took a bit of working out so up to date info on their use would be great. Other than that, it's a gem!
