Guests have enjoyed their stays at Holly Cottage, praising its superb location and comfort. The cottage is described as warm and inviting, with ample parking and proximity to bus stops. While some minor issues were noted, such as the need for a thorough cleaning of the patio and travel cot, and a few maintenance points, these did not significantly detract from the overall positive experiences.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage generally provides a comfortable environment, though there were remarks about a travel cot being mucky and musty, and the patio needing a clean upon arrival. These isolated incidents suggest room for improvement in cleanliness.

The location is consistently highlighted as perfect, with its proximity to walking areas, ample parking, and nearby bus stops, indicating a high level of satisfaction among guests.

The cottage is described as comfy and warm, suggesting a high level of comfort. However, a slight issue with a hot shower that couldn't be adjusted indicates some room for improvement.

Facilities are generally good, but there are comments about kitchen utensils needing replacement and a lack of basic provisions like salt, pepper, and a welcome pack. The absence of an information pack was also noted.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

About this property

Set in the heart of Grasmere, a beautiful village on the banks of the River Rothay in Cumbria, rests the lovely, three-bedroom holiday home of Holly Cottage. With private parking for three cars, a private furnished patio, and a superb location close to nearby shops, pubs, restaurants, and Grasmere Lake, this charming property serves as an idyllic base for a family or group of six friends, looking for a relaxing, self-catered escape within the magnificent Lake District National Park. Park up outside your new home-from-home, taking a moment to breathe in your tranquil new surroundings. Once content, head inside to discover a collection of well-appointed living spaces, including a fully-equipped, shaker-style kitchen filled with all the appliances required to rustle up delicious home-cooked dinners, and a well-presented living/dining room, where you and your loved ones can gather to savour your meals before you indulge in a movie marathon on the TV by the comforting embrace of a woodburning stove. When the sun is shining, feel free to delight with some alfresco dining outside on the patio, raising a glass of your favourite beverage to toast your getaway. When the sun sets, head to either the bath or shower room to wash away the stresses of the day, before you hunker down to catch a well-earned rest in one of the three inviting bedrooms, consisting of two doubles and a twin. After savouring your morning coffee whilst gazing out upon the rolling countryside, head out on foot to explore what's on offer in your local area. A brief stroll will take you into the centre of Grasmere, where you can re-stock homely essentials at the Co-op Food – Grasmere, pick up some baked treats from the Grasmere Gingerbread Shop, enjoy a spot of tea at Baldry's Grasmere, or indulge in a hearty pub lunch at The Good Sport. You can also pay a visit to Faeryland Grasmere, which lies on the edge of the eponymous lake, as well as the National Trust Allan Bank and Grasmere, a historic villa and former home to William Wordsworth. Further afield, outside of Grasmere, you will find countless things to do and see whilst in the Lake District, whether that’s a hike up the peaks of the Great Gable, Helvellyn, or Scafell Pike, soaking in nature at Stickle Tarn or Colwith Force, exploring awe-striking landmarks such as Rydal Cave and Stock Ghyll Force, or even just delight with a peaceful amble through the beautiful greens of the Holehird or Stagshaw Gardens. All of this and so much more is yours to enjoy when you book Holly Cottage.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.

Our only comments would be 1 We were slightly surprised there was no salt or pepper and maybe a small welcome pack of eg a bit of coffee/ tea. 2 We found it slightly unusual that there was no information pack at all. Thanks
