Luke's Hoose in Ambleside is praised for its stunning views, quiet yet central location, and well-equipped kitchen. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds and the property's proximity to local amenities. Some concerns were raised about cleanliness and parking, but overall, guests enjoyed their stay and would consider returning.
Guests have mentioned that the property could benefit from a more thorough cleaning, noting issues such as cobwebs and uncleaned bathrooms upon arrival. However, the property was also described as clean on arrival by some, indicating inconsistency in cleanliness standards.
The location is highly praised for its beautiful views and proximity to local shops and amenities. The quietness despite being central is appreciated, although the steep hill for luggage transport and parking difficulties have been noted.
The property is generally considered comfortable, with guests enjoying the beds and the views. Some guests mentioned the mattresses could be improved, and additional cushions for the sofas would enhance comfort.
The property is well-equipped, particularly the kitchen, and guests enjoyed the garden furniture. However, there were comments about the need for better instructions for appliances, a more stable clothes maiden, and issues with waste disposal and parking permits.

The elevated aspect of this chic Lakeland cottage provides breathtaking views of the Lake District mountains from almost every room. Sitting in a peaceful conservation area, just a minute's stroll from Ambleside village centre, Luke's Hoose offers a perfect combination of traditional charm and contemporary indulgence. It's a perfect living space for two couples, or a family, to wind down and relax at any time of year. Have fun together, dine together, sit out on the patio and drink in the views or head off to see the many delights of Ambleside village and the shores of Lake Windermere.
A short climb leads to this small terrace of stylish cottages. The entrance hall leads to the open plan kitchen / dining area, with a large bay window and there’s a wall-mounted TV - a great place to socialise. Upstairs to the first floor living room with beautiful bay window views and cosy open fire. On this level is a single bedroom and separate shower room. Upstairs to the second floor and a double bedroom, a king size bedroom with magnificent views and en suite bathroom with a shower over the bath.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

All you need for a relaxing stay Nice and clean with comfortable beds Excellent views to the west and over the village which is a minute from the front door to the nearest shops and pubs etc The sat nav will guide you to the street towards the rear of the property where there is a little lane which takes across the row of cottages towards the gate that gives access to the front door We struggled in the dark to find on arrival it but much easier in daylight hours But once in we couldnât fault the property My wife particularly loved the kitchen and dining room There is also a front garden with table and chairs to sit out if the weather is good We will be returning in future

Worked well with a young family and would recommend coming back. Dropped off luggage easily and long stay parking wasnât too far away.

Given the location ,which is great for the views, you really need the permit as the unloading for a family of 5 plus infant was torture. House not as clean as should be and sheets were clean but stained. The clothes horse was broken so we had to cobble it together ( dont agree with tumble dryer - heavy heavy on power). the house is lovely but not suitable for babies or dogs as the garden is a gravel area an not secure.
