Rainbow End is a large, detached bungalow boasting fantastic views of the local countryside, spacious living areas, and off-road parking, and rests in the outskirts of Grasmere. With a close by lake and many breath-taking walks throughout the scenery, this property is ideal for friends, families, and groups of couples looking to explore Cumbria. Park off-road, marvelling at your tranquil surroundings, entering into a light and airy living/dining room with a spacious sitting area, hosting three leather sofas and a Smart TV, accommodating movie nights, and here there is also a dining table for hearty meals with dual aspect windows. The kitchen houses a great many amenities to cater to your culinary needs, all tucked away neatly into contemporary furniture. When sleep calls, freshen up in a bathroom or shower room, before catching your rest in one of the four well-presented bedrooms, choosing between three doubles and a twin. Dine alfresco in the spacious garden, taking in the countryside air and allowing the views to inspire you to lace up your walking boots and head outdoors. Grasmere is a quaint town nestled into the Lake District National Park, offering local shops, convenience stores for all of your holiday essentials, and a selection of cafés, restaurants, and pubs, with options including Goody Blake’s, Harley's Bistro & Café Bar, and The Good Sport. The town also offers homemade treats at The Grasmere Gingerbread Shop, Wordsworth Grasmere, and close by walks through the countryside, around Grasmere Lake, along River Rothay Grasmere Foot Bridge, and out into the countryside towards Rydal Cave. Head over to the bustling town of Ambleside, where there is a whole host of characterful independent shops, Ambleside Roman Fort, local golf courses and gardens, and watersports activities in Lake Windermere. Here, guests can wild swim, kayak, canoe, or take a boat cruise along the river, and Windermere and Bownes-on-Windermere are also well worth a visit. From here, take a walk out into the scenery, mountain bike, or go birdwatching, with fantastic options including Helvellyn, Red Screes, Grey Crag, Grasmere Waterfall Walkways, and Scafell Pike. All of this awaits with a stay at the wonderful Rainbow End.
Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.

The bungalow was very clean. There is just a couple of things that may need addressing, the some of the frying pans are un-usable and need replacing, a couple of the serving/lasagne (white) are all glaze cracked and a couple of the small plates had little chips. The gas hob , central ring would not work and made a large bang when I tried to use it so really needs fixing or a new hob as its seen better days, this is only because i enjoy cooking even on holiday. We found the kingsize bed mattress very uncomfortable so moved to the back double bedroom which had a lovely comfortable mattress. I know that these issues appear negative but they have been made to help. The garden at the back has a little of the fence down so not fully enclosed so take care with doggy. The TV lost ITV channels so limited our evening viewing so maybe needs retuning. Sykes did offer to come and fix the cooker during our stay but we were happy for this to be addressed following our departure. Having mentioned all of these issues we still enjoyed our stay and worked round them and would stay again .
