The picturesque village of Grasmere, located in the heart of the Lake District National Park, is perhaps best known as the residence of William Wordsworth, who once referred to it as "the most beautiful spot that man has ever discovered." The Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over six decades at The Grasmere Gingerbread Shop. In addition, the village contains a number of shops, pubs, a 13th-century church, and Grasmere Lake. Every August, Grasmere Sports is held, where participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. The town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere are only eight kilometres away, where you will find shops, pubs, and restaurants, as well as the Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed structures in the Lake District. Lake Windermere offers cruises, boat trips, and watersports, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are within driving distance. Grasmere is an excellent location for a Lake District retreat.

"During April to December 2024 there will be building work on an adjacent property. Although the owners are actively managing the impact of this there may be some noise during the working week"

We were short of freezer space as we had brought several meals ready frozen and there is only one very small freezer but plenty of fridge space. We couldnât find a local contact number when we couldnât get heating on in one of the bedrooms and it remained cold all week

Nice bedrooms with elegant furniture and excellent beds, great having en suites; plenty of comfy sitting spaces; really functional kitchen and a table for 16 and plenty of crockery and glasses; AND, as we walk and cycle in all weathers and paddle board, the drying room makes the holiday so easy.
