We found lots of long circular walks, (using the OS app and Instagram) from the doorstep. We did fell walks and lower level walks on alternate days. We got to the top of Loughrigg, and Lingmoor Fell. Weather defeated us on only one day, when we only made it up to Stickle Tarn rather than the top of Harrison Stickle as planned. Gentler walks around Elterwater, Skelwith Bridge, Ambleside, Grasmere and Rydal Water - all round we had a wonderful and memorable holiday. The cottage was a comfortable base to relax in, with a kitchen well equipped enough for us to cook a recipe box meal at the end of most days. We hope to return.. next time maybe we’ll manage a proper mountain.

Although it is set up for 4 people, 4 adults might be a bit of a squeeze. Take nothing away this place is a little gem with the best hot water I’ve ever known as it is boiling and has more pressure than my garden hose on jet! Would I stay again? YES 100%.

The cottage had everything that you needed and the presentation of the property was excellent. Bathrooms and kitchen were high spec, so much more than you would need for a holiday. The location was second to none with essential facilities nearby, pubs and shop. Arrival information was adequate and so we were settled very quickly. The weather was fantastic, gorgeous blue skies one day and then thick crisp snow the next. So picturesque which just added to the brilliant time. We truly recommend this property and will certainly aim to return again. The only slight negative was the broken window in the front door. When we enquired about it we were reassured that the owners were aware of it and it was safe.
