Blackthorn Copse is highly praised for its beautiful, clean lodges and peaceful surroundings. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches, such as welcome packs and amenities, and the location is ideal for exploring the Lake District. While most experiences are positive, some guests suggest improvements in outdoor safety and pet facilities.
Reviewers consistently mention that the lodge is beautiful and sparkling clean, indicating high standards of cleanliness.
The lodge's location is celebrated for its quietness and proximity to local attractions, making it a great base for exploring the Lake District.
Guests find the lodge comfortable, with large bedrooms, en-suite showers, and high-quality beds and bathrooms.
Facilities are generally well-received, with a fully equipped kitchen and thoughtful amenities. However, some concerns about outdoor safety and the need for a gated area for pets slightly lower the score.
The provision of welcome packs, including dog goodies, and small touches like coffee pods and a bottle of wine are appreciated. However, it is politely noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and may not be guaranteed.

Haverthwaite is a small village and civil parish in the Furness region of Cumbria. It is within the Lake District National Park and is located six miles east of Ulverston, near the southern end of Windermere. The village gets part of its name from the Old Norse word thwaite which usually refers to a clearing or settlement in the forest. Close to the village is Newby Bridge which is at the southern tip of Lake Windermere which takes its name from the five arched stone bridge built in 1651 over the River Leven. The famous Furness Railway, one of Britain's oldest working standard gauge steam railways, runs between Haverthwaite and Newby Bridge. Visit the Lakeside Hotels and enjoy magnificent views across Windermere and the surrounding fells, or enjoy the Aquarium of the Lakes, where the naturally themed habitats, bring the history of the Lakes vividly to life.
