Damson Lodge is highly praised for its excellent location, comfortable amenities, and the added luxury of a hot tub. Guests have enjoyed the lodge's proximity to attractions and the peacefulness of the surrounding area. The spaciousness and homely feel of the lodge contribute to a delightful stay, with many expressing a desire to return.
Most guests found the lodge to be clean and well-maintained, though there were a few instances of cleanliness issues such as hairs in the bed and items under the rug. These seem to be isolated incidents, as the majority of reviews do not mention such problems.
The lodge's location is consistently lauded for its tranquility and convenience, with easy access to local attractions like Ambleside and Lake Windermere. The scenic views and proximity to nature trails make it an ideal spot for relaxation and exploration.
Guests have found the lodge to be very comfortable, with a few noting the quality of the beds and the spacious living area. Some minor feedback on the firmness of mattresses and sofa comfort suggests room for improvement, but overall satisfaction is high.
Facilities such as the hot tub are frequently highlighted as highlights of the stay. However, some guests have reported maintenance issues like slow drainage and the need for updates, which slightly detract from the overall experience.
While many reviews express satisfaction with the lodge's amenities and features, there is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts. Therefore, it is not possible to assess this category.

The main bathroom had a weird strong smell to it, at first we thought bleach but it didnât shift so we didnât use it the stay which wasnât a massive problem as we had the en suite. Feel the lodge could do with a general revamp. Hot tub didnât work first night so Iâd messaged about it, didnât get a reply although weâd then realised it had been refilled which was why it wasnât working. I got a good deal on the lodge but wouldnât have wanted to pay a huge amount to stay here.

White Cross Bay park itself was great - good food in the restaurant. Staff in the restaurant/bar were very helpful and friendly. The majority of the lodge was very clean. There were just a couple of things that let it down slightly. Parts of the kitchen were definitely not very clean, the microwave, the top of the cooker was very dirty and there were dried food marks on the kitchen tops. We felt parts of the lodge just needed a bit of TLC, some of the window handles were very loose, the backs of the sofas had gone, so you felt like you were half lying down when sat on them. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean. The hot tub was brilliant. Besides a few issues, we would go back and stay there again.

Very clean and well equipped; everything we needed for our stay. The only let down was the upkeep of the outside deck area. It is dangerously slippery in places, even in warm dry conditions. It also feels unstable in certain areas and is in need of a good jet wash and general attention. Also, the guttering above the door is blocked causing rain to drip on you as you lock up. Minor issue but just needs addressing. Overall we had a lovely stay, if these fairly quick wins were sorted it would be perfect.
