Guests say

Tower Cottage in Windermere is praised for its stunning views, spacious garden, and prime location close to the town and lake. Guests appreciate the property's warmth and the thoughtful touch of a welcome bottle of wine. While some find the decor charming and the facilities adequate, others suggest the cottage could benefit from some updating and better maintenance.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviews indicate a mix of experiences regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the cottage spotless, while others reported it was not very clean, with cobwebs and grime. The inconsistency leads to an average score.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to Windermere town and the lake, with easy access to local amenities and footpaths. The scenic views and garden are also appreciated, contributing to a high score.

Guests have mixed feelings about comfort. While some find the beds comfortable and the lounges lovely, others criticise the sofas and seating as uncomfortable. The presence of both positive and negative feedback results in a slightly above average score.

Facilities are generally good, with a well-equipped kitchen and multiple bathrooms. However, maintenance issues such as a non-functional oven door, broken blinds, and a lack of garden furniture are noted. The balance of good facilities and maintenance issues leads to a moderate score.

The property's thoughtfulness is reflected in the provision of a welcome bottle of wine and a pen for the dog, as mentioned by guests. However, as not all reviews mention gifts and there's no guarantee of such gestures, the score reflects a positive but not outstanding level of thoughtfulness.

Watch the many moods of Lakeland dapple over the superb scenery from the comfort of your holiday hideaway.

Elegant and eclectic, the modern stylings that run through Tower Cottage have that sought-after sleek designer touch, with cool neutrals accentuating the sense of space and light provided by those fabulous panoramic picture windows, and wonderfully warm accent colours giving a real sense of identity and homeliness.

Especially the garden is a delight with the impressive sequoia tree as highlight in it. In two occasions we spotted some deer grazing in the back. The house has got an easy access to several public footpaths - ideal for walking experiences to Bowmere, Grasmere and obviously Windermere itself. We truly enjoyed our stay and had lots of morning and evening walks to the lake with our dog. The house itself is spacious, with three bathrooms , a large kitchen and comfortable beds.In the evening we were able to admire the sun set through the large window overseeing the extended garden. We would surely recommend Tower Cottage to everyone for it is very suitable for doglovers and, or a family with adult children like ours. The kitchen though, might need a little upgrade; some more pots and pans would be handy, also the oven needs some maintenance. Just a note for the owner; most holiday homes provide hand soap and commons spices for their guests but there were not. Fortunately, a Booth was in walking distance.

...it wasn't very clean, full of cobwebs and grime. Also the numbers and settings have rubbed off the dials on the range cooker so it was impossible to see what setting or temperature you were selecting, also the blind in the downstairs bedroom was broken, also the sun awning was non functional on the back of the house and there was no blinds or curtains in the downstairs living room which meant that the late afternoon and early evening sun was blinding and there was no way to shade it which made it pretty uncomfortable. Finally the garden was great for our 2 dogs, huge, but half of one boundary was not fenced in and completely open to the neighbouring property which meant that we couldn't just let the dogs roam and play in the garden, a shame. Overall it feels like a missed opportunity to create a truly 5 star property, with a bit of care and attention, it would be stunning and a really nice place to be, as it was it came up a bit short.

Tower Cottage exceeded our expectations, which were already high prior to arrival. The property is immaculately presented and the location is ideal being only a short walk to either Windermere town or lake. All bedrooms are warm and comfortable, bathrooms are stylish and the upstairs lounge/games room has stunning views and is a great chill out area for the kids. The garden just goes on and on, and would be lovely in the summer. Everywhere feels light, airy and spacious with very high quality fittings throughout. We are so taken with the property that we are considering another booking for later this year. Lovely cottage, great location, very welcoming and highly recommended.
