Guests say

Hoodgill Barn is highly praised for its beautiful location, cleanliness, and welcoming host. Guests consistently enjoy the stunning views, peaceful setting, and the indoor hot tub. The property is well-equipped and ideal for both family gatherings and celebrations, with many looking forward to returning.

Guests have consistently noted the property to be spotless and well-maintained, indicating a high standard of cleanliness throughout the cottage.

The location is frequently described as peaceful with beautiful views, ideal for walks and close to attractions like Low and High Force waterfalls, contributing to its high rating.

The cottage is often referred to as comfortable and cosy, with ample space for guests. However, a slight deduction is made due to a comment about the leisure/lounge areas being a bit limited for a full group of adults.

Facilities are generally praised, especially the well-equipped kitchen and the hot tub. There is a minor note about additional seating needed in the Summer Room and a wobbly toilet seat, but overall, the facilities are highly regarded.

While guests have mentioned a welcome pack and the owner's helpfulness, there is insufficient information to determine the consistency of such gestures or gifts for every stay. Therefore, it is politely noted that such thoughtful touches, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.

We met Peter on arrival where he showed us around this fabulous property. A true home from home. The walks were great and the Low Force, High Force and Gibsons Cave are a must. We were snowed in for one day. Peter messaged to check on us and the neighbours came to check that we had the essentials. It was the perfect day for the hot tub. It was the perfect break for us. Highly recommend.

The house is charming, roomy & well equipped. The hot tub being inside the garden room extension makes for perfect relaxed evenings whatever the weather - though our weather this year was very kind indeed! The very best thing about the cottage is the setting. It is tranquil & quiet while only being a 5 minute drive from Middleton-in-teesdale with all the necessary supplies. A footpath runs behind the cottage straight to Gibson's Cave, Summergill Force, Low Force and High Force. The views from everywhere in the cottage are beautiful & filled with rabbits, pheasants & a slew of different birds. This year the cows weren't in the field beside the hot tub - we quite missed them watching us!! A perfect family base for everyone.
