Aquila Lodge in Morpeth offers a clean, comfortable stay with a well-equipped setting and a hot tub for relaxation. It's conveniently located just off the A1, making it easy to explore Northumberland. The private decking is perfect for sunbathing, and the site pub and play area add to the amenities. Ideal for small families or groups.
Reviews are mixed regarding cleanliness. While some guests found the lodge to be very clean, including the hot tub, others reported a strong smell and lack of thorough cleaning. This suggests variability in the cleaning standards.
The location is highly praised for its convenience, being just off the A1, which facilitates easy access to local attractions. This makes it an ideal base for exploring the area.
Comfort receives mixed feedback. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds and fluffy towels, but there are comments about the single beds being too small for adults, indicating that comfort may be compromised for larger parties.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped lodge and a hot tub that is a highlight for many. However, suggestions for improvements such as a canopy over the hot tub and better maintenance indicate room for enhancement.
There is no mention of any gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. Therefore, it is not possible to assess this category.

Between Morpeth to the south and Alnwick to the north, in rural Northumberland, sits the lovely village of Felton. The village is only 10 miles from Alnwick, which is known for its castle and famed Garden, which includes Europe's largest cascading water feature, a huge tree house, a rose garden, and an ornamental walled garden. The community has a shop with a post office, a coffee shop, a pub, and a restaurant. The castle is renowned for serving as the location of Hogwarts School in the "Harry Potter" movies. Alnwick has a good assortment of stores, bars, and restaurants, and there is a lot to see and do nearby, including miles of beaches with fine sand, numerous castles, and boat tours to the well-known Farne Islands. The one year old child stayed in the double bed with his mother leaving the other two adults on the single beds. The beds were so small they were only fit for children making our nights sleep uncomfortable. We arrived just after the stated 4pm and found the hot tub still being filled up. We couldn't use it until almost 6.30pm which was a little disappointing. The hot tub was well checked throughout our stay. I'd recommend this cottage for two adults and two children. The site pub and play area is good and welcoming. It is well placed to visit the many great locations Northumberland has to offer.
