Situated within the grounds of Netherby Hall, where you can roam the 32 acres, watching the wildlife and taking in the peace and tranquillity of these beautiful surroundings.

Inside the apartment, exposed oak beams frame the well-equipped living accommodation with high ceilings creating a spacious and light ambience. The beams continue into the bedroom along with the generous bathroom with its luxurious roll top bath and large walk-in shower.

The apartment sits in 36 acres of parkland, where you can stroll across manicured lawns, enjoy a Victorian pleasure garden and walk through a walled garden that stretches for over an acre. The estate is nestled in north Cumbria, with spectacular views over the undulating landscape to the Scottish hills beyond. Glorious walks abound, including a path alongside the River Esk, a burbling brook that is beautifully clear.

The history of Netherby Hall dates back to Roman times, and parts of the grand house may even have been built using stones from a Roman fort. Beautifully decorated, the apartments and cottages are all thoroughly modern, with plenty of touches of 21st century luxury; and the proud recipients of the Cumbria Tourism Awards 2024 Winner for Self Catering Accommodation of the Year.

This is really five star accommodation but the reason for only four lies with the quality of sleep whilst we were there for three nights. During each night, before dawn, we were awakened by the sound of many bats returning to their roost. We were unsure where this roost was located ~ in the clock tower or with in the roof space. Unfortunately, it was difficult to resume sleep after this quite loud and lengthy interruption. I think the management may have been previously aware of this situation as they didn’t seem very surprised when advised of it. Although we enjoyed our time at this beautiful apartment, the situation with the bats would put us off returning.

The Apartment was comfortable and furnished to the highest standards. The grounds are beautiful. We had a lovely welcome and the welcome basket was generous and thoughtful. We were regarded as visitors rather than paying guests. Would welcome information booklets on how to use the appliances. However we were encouraged to contact the office if there were any problems and they were always available. Would love to stay there again.

The Clock Tower Apartment was exactly what we had hoped for, clean, quiet, with all the modern comfort without losing the old charms. We loved the tower clock bell chiming and the echo of footsteps in the stable quadrant, so authentic . Helen was amazingly considerate and helpful, going out of her way to make us feel welcome and at home. Thank you.
