About this property

Nestled centrally within the popular coastal village of Allonby is this charming townhouse, 3 Clarks Terrace. Set over three floors, this coastal retreat welcomes families and groups seeking to explore the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and The Lake District. Discover the open-plan living space, where the cook can take over the well-equipped kitchen whilst joining in the craic with the rest of the party. The bedrooms at this Allonby cottage are situated on the upper floors; the first floor has two tasteful rooms with king size beds. The downstairs luxury bathroom has a beautiful bath and separate shower, complemented by sleek fixtures and fittings. Outside the charming rear terrace offers the chance to drink and eat alfresco. The beach is less than 200 yards from the front of the cottage with lovely views of the sea and Scotland opposite. The initial high-water part of the beach is shingle but for most of the day you can walk on a vast sandy beach that stretches in either direction as far as the eye can see! Just let your dogs go and walk for miles, it is exceptional. After dinner, take a romantic stroll at sunset, the views on a clear sky are breath-taking and something you will never tire of. The village of Allonby has two pubs, a tearoom and Twentyman’s village store which has sold its homemade ice cream for over 100 years. Just across the road from the house is an excellent self-contained children’s play area and the Solway Coaster Cycleway runs past the house and offers great cycling and no hills! Hop in the car and head to Maryport, just 5 miles west, for shops and supermarkets (a good Lidl). Enjoy the lovely, revamped harbour, and on the right day, buy some fresh fish from one of the fishing boats. The Maritime Museum, The Aquarium and The Roman Museum are also there for a rainy day! Take in the wonders of Cumbria with a holiday at 3 Clarks Terrace.

On the Solway Firth, the well-liked seaside town of Allonby is situated along a five-mile-long crescent-shaped harbour. It has a pristine shingle beach, sand dunes, and a long, verdant promenade. There are lovely panoramic views across the harbour towards Criffel and the Galloway Hills of Scotland, and the flat ground is perfect for walkers of all ages, dogs, windsurfers, and kite flyers. The village, which is located in an area recognised as having outstanding natural beauty, has retained much of its Victorian and Georgian charm, with cobblestone streets, intriguing nooks to discover, and a number of magnificent buildings, including The Baths, an impressive colonnaded structure. Despite its small size, Allonby is a thriving community with public houses, a number of cafes, an ice cream shop/general store, a post office, an antiques shop, a leisure centre with a pool, events in the village hall, and a children's play park. The majestic Lake District Fells provide the village with the perfect backdrop. The Cumbria Coastal Walk and Allerdale Ramble both pass through the village. You may also play a round of golf at one of the two courses nearby or go to Maryport, which contains a maritime museum, a Roman museum, and an award-winning coastal aquarium. You can travel just a short distance to the ancient city of Carlisle, cross the border to Gretna Green, experience Hadrian's Wall's 2000-year legacy, or spend fun-filled days exploring the picturesque Western Lakes and fells, where there are a variety of things to see and do, including Hadrian's Cycleway where you can take in the breathtaking views as you travel. For mountain bikers and walkers, the breathtaking Whinlatter Forest Park in the vicinity of Keswick is a haven, and for the more daring, the Go Ape high wire adventure course is perfect. Allonby is a wonderful year-round getaway that makes a great starting point for exploring the region.

.. huge bedrooms, comfy beds, spotlessly clean throughout, 2 pubs serving food less than 2 mins away, as is dog friendly beach, beautiful quiet place, everyone was so friendly, had a lovely week despite weather being rainy for first half of week, my elderly dad lost his hearing aid, which was found by the new guests and posted back to us by Fiona, highly recommended accommodation with an owner who can't do enough to make sure guests are comfortable and looked after, thank you Fiona for sharing your gorgeous gem of a cottage

The cottage is in a great location, fully equipped kitchen, the bathroom wouldn't be out of place in a luxury penthouse, comfortable beds in both large bedrooms.
