Guests say

Tree Tops is a well-received cottage in Cumbria, praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and thoughtful touches. Guests appreciate the spacious, well-equipped kitchen, cosy bedrooms, and the property's peaceful location. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many guests planning to return.

Guests consistently describe the property as clean and tidy, with several reviews highlighting its spotless condition. The high level of cleanliness contributes to the homely and welcoming atmosphere.

The property's location is celebrated for its tranquillity and proximity to local amenities and scenic walks. Its position makes it an excellent base for exploring the surrounding areas, although it is noted as slightly isolated by one guest.

Comfort is a standout feature, with guests finding the beds super comfy and the property warm and cosy. The generous space and well-furnished rooms contribute to a relaxing stay.

The facilities are generally well-regarded, especially the well-appointed kitchen and entertainment options. However, points are deducted for reported maintenance issues such as a broken toilet seat, a noisy boiler, and problematic door locks.

The provision of welcome gifts like fizz, chocolates, and dog treats is frequently mentioned and appreciated. It's important to note that such gestures, while common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

The cottage is just around the corner from a shop, where you can stock up on the essentials, whilst wandering around the quiet Nenthead, which also has the fascinating Nenthead Mines for guided trips underground, the village also hosts The Hive - a converted Weslian Chapel that now is a wonderful licensed cafe, art gallery and craft shop, serving amazing food, cakes and drinks. For a more bustling village, Alston is a short journey away, with pubs, restaurants and cafes to enjoy, historic cobbled streets to explore and local specialities to try. A little further south west lies Melmerby, a small village at the foot of the Pennine scar that boasts picturesque views, winding streams and sits at the edge of Eden Valley for spectacular walks. Just beyond Melmerby, you will find Penrith, a busy town known for its impressive 14th century castle, Roman Museum houses to discover local history and plenty of opportunities for walking, cycling, fishing and canoeing, as well as cinemas, leisure and cultural centres. Resting on the edge of The Lake District, you'll find ample opportunities for walking and watersports. Perfect for exploring a wonderful area of Cumbria, Tree Tops offers a memorable trip with your loved ones.

Set in the North Pennines in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Alston is quaint town surrounded by a spectacular variety of landscapes. The town is England’s highest market town, with cobbled, winding streets to explore, and was the location for ITV’s Jane Eyre and Oliver Twist. There is an abundance of unusual shops, locally made specialities and historic 17th Century stone buildings; it’s no wonder Alston inspired the work of many artists and writers.

Very spacious and well equipped It would seem to be an ongoing issue locking the front door and also the handle on front gate broken so difficult to keep gate secure to prevent our dogs getting straight out to main road . That was the only niggle in a very relaxing holiday Would love to return to this beautiful place

The cottage is warm and comfortable, especially the adjoining sitting room and large kitchen with the wood burning stove across both ( which we used- so cosy) The weather was atrocious, but with dog in tow we went out in all our waterproofs. We had some slight reprieves especially walking along the river out of Allendale which was beautiful. Highly recommend the trail, if you have good boots, maps and gear ( and better weather). Could we ask for the following which would have helped our stay? *Clothes horse to hang up wet clothes Also The kitchen tap is dripping all the time The door locks ( including French doors to back) are tricky so perhaps more than just advice is now needed? We are strong and yet still struggled The gate handle needs fixed ( important with a dog to help keep safe as you go in and out) Perhaps a hand towel each would be nice as well as an extra towel in kitchen

This trip when we arrived the heating sounded like a jack hammer in the house. It was the heating. After reporting an engineer turned up on Monday. 2 Sleepless nights later. When they looked at the system they stated they could not fix it as the room where the fault was was locked. The system became quieter but did not work properly for the rest of the week. The engineer stated it would partially work until the fault was fixed. So we were cold at night. The back door lock was broken and an locksmith turned up Tuesday to fix. There was a broken handle on the entry gate and the rest fell apart but i managed to put it back together to get us in. 1 Handle was broken off on arrival. Overall we love the place and this trip was disappointing due to the problems.
