Overlooked by the Pennine range with the Lake District fells on the western horizon, the idyllic market town of Appleby-in-Westmoreland is surrounded by glorious scenery, perfect for keen walkers and cyclists, and home to many local restaurants, bars, shops, cafes and galleries. Uncover some of Cumbria’s finest countryside by exploring the North Pennines, Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, all reached within 15 miles, or by walking the banks of the River Eden running through the town centre on your doorstep. Culture vultures are spoilt for choice with the Dalemain Mansion and Historic Gardens, and Lowther Castle and Gardens both reached within 16 miles.
