Guests say

Rolo's Retreat in Grange-Over-Sands is highly praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and ideal location for exploring the Lake District. Guests appreciate the well-equipped property, secure garden for dogs, and the thoughtful touches from the owner. The property offers a peaceful stay with convenient access to local amenities and scenic walks.

Guests consistently commend the property for its exceptional cleanliness, often describing it as the cleanest they've stayed in, with great appreciation for the high standards maintained.

The location is celebrated for its quiet setting near the town centre, with easy access to dog-friendly walks, the promenade, and local shops, making it an ideal base for exploring the southern Lakes.

Reviewers find the property to be very comfortable, highlighting the quality of the beds, bedding, and towels, as well as the cosy and welcoming atmosphere of the home.

The property is well-equipped with a secure garden, BBQ, and quality patio furniture. However, one review mentioned the absence of Wi-Fi and smart TV despite being advertised, which suggests a need for better communication regarding facilities.

Many guests mention the thoughtful gestures such as treats for both humans and dogs, although it's important to note that such personal touches, while common, are not guaranteed with every stay.

With one of the mildest climates in the north of England, the beautiful Edwardian town of Grange-over-Sands is situated between the Lake District fells and Morecambe Bay. When the Furness Railway was built, Grange-over-Sands, a sleepy fishing community, was converted into a chic Edwardian resort. A traffic-free promenade, lovely ornamental gardens, golf courses, brass band performances, and fantastic bird watching are just a few of the many attractions the town has to offer visitors today. Lake Windermere (8 miles), the charming communities of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead, and Cartmel, the birthplace of sticky toffee pudding, are all easily accessible by car. Cartmel also boasts a renowned racecourse and the L'Enclume restaurant, which has been ranked as the fourth best restaurant in the UK. Other points of interest nearby include Sizergh Castle, a National Trust mediaeval house and grounds, Levens Hall, an Elizabethan Hall with its internationally renowned topiary gardens, Holker Hall, Furness Abbey, and Conishead Priory, a Gothic revival country house.

Brilliant accommodation and suited us and Callie down to the ground. Every need catered for and ideally situated for lovely walks. Highly recommend and will be returning. Thank you Amanda

Very comfortable beds, lovely high quality bedding and towels. The whole place was lovely and clean to a high standard. The keysafe is a bit of an issue, the rubber cover comes off completely and I was covered in black marks all over my top, the keysafe itself comes out completely and isn't on hinges, I found it difficult to use. The bathrooms have no extractor fans so we had to open the windows for ventilation. A lovely neighbour explained that we could use the parking spot at the side of the drive which was really helpful as we had come in 2 cars. When I saw the sign that said parking for number 42, I assumed that meant on the drive. Amanda left us milk, tea, coffee biscuits and some Rollo's, this was a lovely gesture and was appreciated. We loved the torch in the hallway as we definitely needed it to take Ziggy for a walk down the field at night. We would definitely return.

The house is perfect for us, carpet in the living room and dining room ( my dog hates wooden floors )and downstairs toilet. Always clean and welcoming. Fabulous location, easy dog walks from the house and easy to go anywhere by car. The owner is lovely and my dog went right back to her for a cuddle! See you next year! Justine.
