Marsh Garth is a well-received holiday cottage, praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and serene location. Guests appreciate the secure garden, especially those with dogs, and the property's proximity to both the countryside and the Lake District. The welcoming touches, such as treats for both guests and pets, contribute to a pleasant stay, despite minor concerns about steep steps and check-out times.
The property is consistently described as clean and well-maintained, with only a few minor remarks about specific areas that needed additional attention. The high level of cleanliness contributes significantly to the guests' overall positive experience.
The location is highly regarded for its quiet setting and proximity to both the Lake District and local amenities. The secure garden and scenic views are frequently mentioned, although some guests noted the narrow road and parking as points of consideration.
Guests find the bungalow comfortable, with special mentions of the cosy beds and spaciousness. The secure garden is a hit with pet owners, and the overall ambience is described as welcoming. Some guests suggested improvements for easier access.
The property is well-equipped, with a few reports of minor maintenance issues such as a loose toilet seat and the need for stronger fencing. The well-thought-out kitchen and the presence of treats for dogs are positively noted, although some guests desired more flexible check-in/out times.
The provision of welcome treats for both guests and pets is frequently mentioned and appreciated, adding a personal touch to the stay. However, it is politely noted that such gestures, while common, are not guaranteed for every visit.
Tucked away in Kirkby-in-Furness, Cumbria, is this lovely, detached bungalow, Marsh Garth. Enjoying a superb location within a quiet cul-de-sac in the Lake District National Park, Marsh Garth is a wonderful dog-friendly choice for couples or a family of four. The property benefits from an off-road parking space, and a rear enclosed garden with furniture for alfresco dining with views of Black Combe, a hose pipe for washing off muddy paws and walking gear, and a garage where you can store bikes and paddleboards. Look forward to cooking up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen/diner, before serving up the fruits of your labour at the dining table for four. After dinner, retreat to the sitting room, where you can curl up on the sumptuous seating with your favourite tipple in hand and select a much-loved show from the Smart TV. Continue through to find a beautiful bathroom, where you can freshen up with your choice of bath or shower, along with two tastefully decorated bedrooms, a super-king-size with zip/link and a double. Explore the village, enjoy leisurely strolls along the Kirkby Pool, or pay a visit to one of Kirkby's two pubs; The Commercial Pub is home to a basic village store during pub opening hours. Your new-home-from-home provides easy access to all of the outdoor activities the Lakes has to offer, including fell walking, watersports, cycling and forest trails. The neighbouring village of Grizebeck offers a pub, petrol station and shop, and the charming village of Broughton-in-Furness is home to a Post Office, bakery, grocers and butchers together with two petrol stations, tourist information and three pubs. There are trails to suit all abilities including the Cumbria Coastal Way, Kirkby Moor, and also in the Duddon Valley, Broughton-In-Furness and Woodland areas. Next stop is Ulverston, where you can picnic in Ford Park, tour the Laurel & Hardy Museum, enjoy the delights of the Shed 1 Gin Distillery, and dine at the traditional pub of The Farmers. Continue onto Grange-over-Sands, where you can wander through the charming Ornamental Gardens, test out your swing at the excellent golf club, and refuel at The Estuary Bistro. For a taste of the coast, dog-friendly beaches can be easily reached at Askam-in-Furness, Roanhead near Barrow-in-Furness and Haverigg near Millom. If you fancy exploring further up the coast of the Western Lakes you can enjoy Muncaster Castle, Ravenglass and Eskdale where you’ll find the La’al Ratty narrow gauge steam railway. Adventure awaits at Marsh Garth.
Kirkby-in-Furness is a collection of six hamlets on the Furness peninsula overlooking the Duddon estuary. The village is home to a general store and two pubs as well as a railway station on the Cumbrian Coast Line. Just five miles away is Broughton-in-Furness which has much to please the visitor such as a pretty, cobbled square complete with a splendid horse chestnut tree, enclosed by shops, pubs and homes. The village provides an ideal base for a walking or climbing holiday, with ample opportunity to explore the rugged beauty of the Duddon Valley and the quieter Lake District fells. East of Kirkby-in-Furness is the ancient market town of Ulverston which still holds a street market every Thursday and Saturday. Today it’s well known as a festival town with events throughout the year, including walking and art festivals in the summer months and the renowned Dickensian festival in late November. One of the town’s great claims to fame is as the birthplace of Stan Laurel - it is now home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world! Facilities include a wide range of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, a cinema and a leisure centre. All of the attractions of the National Park are easily reached and nearby family attractions include the World of Beatrix Potter, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, the South Lakes Wild Animal Park and Muncaster Castle.

The cleanliness is excellent! It is set in a quiet cul de sac with a nice garden and a pleasant outlook. It has lovely dog walks overlooking the marshes and estuary from the doorstep. It is also in a great location for coastal walks, visiting the lakes and lots of tourist attractions. Would highly recommend and we will be returning!
