A pet friendly 4 Star holiday home just ten minutes away from Audlem village where you can enjoy lovely canal walks and sample the tasty cakes at one of the many tearooms or enjoy a drink sitting by the canal at the Shroppy Fly pub which serves lovely food.  Guests staying at Oakwood have countryside walks straight from the front door which includes the 20 minute walk on a hardstanding footpath to the Olde Jack Inn -  an ideal self-catering rental to relax and unwind.  We are also lucky to have a community owned pub on our doorstep which has  been voted the countrys best pub , this can be walked to across the fields or a 5 minute drive.   Brown Moss Nature Reserve with woodland walks  is a beautiful place to stroll round and near to this we have a 200 acre estate with no livestock and so perfect for walking your dogs.  The bustling old market town of Whitchurch which is the oldest town in the country has fine dining including Docket 33 and the italian restaurant Enzo`s.  The town has beautiful Tudor buildings and is renowned for its production of the Joyce clocks and its canalside walks.Chester and Shrewsbury are close by as well as Ellesmere with its scenic lakes. Chester Zoo and the Grosvenor Museum are worth a visit as well as a lovely stroll around the Chester Roman Gardens. We have quite a few places to visit on rainy days such as Dagfields Craft and Antique Centre and the Secret Bunker plus Bridgemere Garden World with its splendid gardens.  The Dorothy Clive and Trentham gardens are this side of Staffordshire and well worth a visit or have a look at the Wedgewood museum and then go across to the JCB factory for a very interesting tour. The world is your oyster as we are very fortunate to be central to 4 counties which includes Wales.

Oakwood is a spacious detached single level holiday home located in a quiet rural village near to the Cheshire/Shropshire border providing a relaxing retreat with countryside walks starting directly from the front door (including a 20 minute walk on a hardstanding footpath to the local pub which welcomes dogs).

Sleeping up to four guests, Oakwood is ideal for families who want to visit and explore Shropshire, Cheshire and also the Potteries and Wales with plenty of attractions for day trips out and lovely circular walks to enjoy with your dog.

The Cheshire village of Audlem is only ten minutes away where you will find canalside walks, tea rooms, shops and a boating marina. There is a nature reserve within a five minute drive offering wooded walks, along with good pubs with log fires serving food. The area also offers numerous National Trust properties gardens and castles to visit.

Awarded 4 Star for quality accommodation, Oakwood is suited to those who want to escape to an unspoilt part of the country where you can enjoy some peace and quiet away from the crowds.

Accommodation comprises:

  • Covered porch where you can store muddy boots etc, leading into...
  • Hallway with room for coats.
  • Kitchen with spacious work units, washing machine, fridge/freezer, electric oven with gas hob, slow cooker, microwave and door leading into the garden.
  • Lounge/diner with comfortable seating and a cosy woodburner for those winter nights. There is a 43" smart tv and dining area with table and seating for four.
  • Family bathroom with full size bath, WC and wash basin.
  • King-size bedroom with en-suite shower room. The king size bed is very comfortable with egyptian bedding to en-sure a good nights sleep with french doors opening out onto the garden.
  • Twin bedroom with comfortable single beds with views of the garden
  • Outside: The large garden has 6 foot fencing and so safe and secure for dogs and can be accessed via the main bedroom or kitchen. There is a patio with seating for 4 guests.

    Additional information: Price includes central heating, electricity, linen, towels, Wi-Fi, a welcome tray with home-made cake upon arrival and complimentary toiletries and beverages.   A welcome basket of logs is provided and additional logs can be purchased from b&m. Two dogs are welcome but please do not leave them alone in the cottage or on the beds.

    Oakwood is on a quiet cul-de-sac with no passing traffic. There is a circular walk via a field from the cottage to the church and a footpath which leads onto a 200 acre estate with grassland walks with no livestock. Brown Moss Nature reserve is within 10 minutes away which has 77 acres of beautiful woodland trails and we have the Chef In The Woods who bakes his own very tasty cakes and pies on route.
