The Bothy in the Peak District & Derbyshire Dales is highly praised for its cleanliness, spaciousness, and well-equipped facilities, including a hot tub and table tennis. Its location offers stunning views and proximity to local attractions, though some found it hard to find. The property is ideal for family gatherings, with a warm welcome often mentioned. Some minor issues were noted but did not detract from the overall positive experience.
Guests consistently noted the property was spotless and very clean, indicating a high standard of cleanliness throughout the property.
The location is described as beautiful with stunning views and good access to local walks and towns, though some guests mentioned difficulty in finding the property and limited mobile signal.
The property is frequently described as comfortable, with special mentions of comfy beds and a homely feel. However, a few comments about impractical bin design and a noisy water valve in one room slightly affected the score.
The Bothy is lauded for its well-equipped kitchen, ample space, and bonus features like a hot tub. Suggestions for improvements include better Wi-Fi coverage and clearer signage, which prevented a perfect score.
Many guests were delighted by the thoughtful touches, such as welcome hampers and provision of extra towels for the hot tub. It is noted that such gifts enhance the experience, though their presence is not guaranteed for every stay.

We came as a large family group including adults, children and a dog. The property catered for all of our needs. My only suggestion would be to add a sign (if possible) where the 'triangle of grass' is in Wildboarclough directing you to the property. I drove past this several times before realising where I needed to go. Alternatively, there is a signpost at that point directing you to Macc Forrest. Maybe in the direction instructions, it could be included to follow that sign. Overall, we had a fantastic weekend and would definitely return.

We were disappointed that we were unable to have some other family members come and join us for a few hours as the property seemed perfect for this. Getting in touch with Sykes was very difficult to discuss this issue and unfortunately marred the run up to our getaway and caused a significant amount of uncertainty and stress We also had an unfriendly encounter with a local who did not seem enamoured with visitors to the Bothy. Perhaps this explains the owner's reluctance to allow larger gatherings.

We were provided with everything we needed- plenty of plates and cutlery etc, dishwashers, washing machine and tumble dryer! Hot tub lovely and the setting/ location stunning. Useful folder of information too on places to visit.
