Guests say

Hawksbridge Bungalow is generally praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and stunning views. Guests appreciate the attentive host and the property's proximity to scenic walks and local attractions. While some guests enjoyed the rural farm setting, others found it less peaceful than expected due to farm activity.

The majority of guests found the bungalow to be clean and well-maintained, with several positive comments on its immaculate condition.

The location received mixed reviews; while many guests loved the views and accessibility to walks, others were dissatisfied with the noise from farm vehicles and a busy road.

Most guests found the bungalow comfortable, with spacious rooms and a homey feel. However, a few guests mentioned basic amenities and misrepresentation of bed arrangements.

Facilities like the games room and Wi-Fi were appreciated, but some guests reported issues with internet connectivity and a lack of equipment for the log fire.

While guests mentioned a helpful host and a welcoming atmosphere, there were no specific references to gifts or special thoughtful touches that could be consistently expected by future guests.

About this property

Leek 5.5 miles. Tucked away in the quaint, rural village of Heaton, near Leek, Staffordshire, rests this delightful, three-bedroom holiday home, Hawksbridge Bungalow. Enjoying stunning countryside views and a wealth of tasteful furnishings, this property is ideal for families or groups of friends sharing, seeking a relaxing, self-catered escape to the edge of the Peak District National Park. Step into your new home-away-from-home and be charmed by a variety of well-presented living spaces, including a well-equipped kitchen where the designated chef can conjure up tasty, home-cooked meals to be enjoyed around the dining table or sat in the ambient sitting room, complete with its very own TV and centrepiece wood burning stove. When the evening grows darker, soak your muscles in a rejuvenating bath before retiring to one of three well-appointed bedrooms, each waiting to transport you to a night of refreshing slumber. After you've enjoyed taking in gorgeous views of the surrounding rolling hills as you finish your morning coffee in the tranquil front garden, venture from your lodgings to explore your local area by taking a walk through the lush greenways of Ladderedge Country Park, make the short car journey to the National Trust landmark spot of Biddulph Grange Garden, or make your way into the neighbouring Peak District National Park, where the picture-perfect locations of Lud's Church, The Roaches and the Hanging Stone can all be found. On your way back to your new home, be sure to stop for a well-deserved pint at The Knot Inn in Rushton Spencer before sitting down for dinner at The Napoli or Pabna in nearby Leek. All of this and more await you and your loved ones during a stay at Hawksbridge Bungalow.

On the western side of The Peaks, the hillside market town of Leek—also known as "The Queen of the Moorlands"—is surrounded by beautiful Moorland scenery. The town's lovely cobblestone market square and numerous instances of magnificent Victorian architecture, many of which bear William Morris' influence, serve as a reminder of the prosperity the area experienced when it was known as a centre for the production of silk. Currently, Leek has a large variety of stores, including enormous antique stores, as well as a considerable number of restaurants, a neighbourhood park, recreational opportunities, and real ale pubs. Leek is adjacent to Gawsworth Hall, Buxton Opera House, and Three Shires Head, where the counties of Cheshire, Derbyshire, and Staffordshire converge. It is also a short drive from Alton Towers.

It had everything we needed. We made sure we picked up after our dog, but the owners dog appeared a couple of times and left deposits. Not fair for us to have to look after their dog poo as well. That said, we never met the owners o explain. Overall, a nice break away.

The rooms are huge and welcoming. The lounge was very warm when the log burner was lit and it was a great treat for us especially as the mist and fog rolled in. As advertised the WiFi and phone signal is poor but we managed without it. We did end up using the dishwasher twice a day as there were 8 settings for crockery and cutlery..again not a problem if we remembered to switch it on. Beautiful surrounding area, great walks and very few people to be seen ..just ideal

The internet was virtually non existent and had I known this on looking to book a property then I would have looked elsewhere. The TV that is described as a Smart TV needs internet to act as such. Bearing in mind that the evenings were drawing in and weather turned out to be crap, then it spoiled our week away. I couldnt even use my laptop to browse or our phones as there was also poor phone signal. The landlady tried her best but you cant recify what isnt there. On arriving home I spoke to Sykes Cottages but they were no help and just stopped replying to me. My advice to them and to the owner either improve the internet or explain the facts on the site. As it stands it is blatant misrepresentation of the facts. Anybody considering booking this property and needs internet access then dont. Book somewhere else but if its through Sykes Cottages dont expect any help or redress from them. My advice is use another company
