Robin's Nook is consistently praised for its cleanliness, cosy comfort, and thoughtful touches, including welcome treats. Its central location in Ashbourne is ideal for exploring the Peak District, with easy access to shops, pubs, and trails. While some mention road noise and parking challenges, the overall experience is highly regarded, with many guests planning return visits.
Guests unanimously commend the cottage for its spotless condition, often using terms like 'very clean' and 'spotlessly clean', indicating a high standard of cleanliness maintained throughout the property.
The central location is frequently highlighted as convenient for accessing local amenities and exploring the surrounding areas. However, some guests noted the proximity to a busy road and the lack of on-site parking, slightly impacting the score.
Reviewers find the cottage warm, cosy, and comfortable, with special mentions of a comfy bed and a homely atmosphere. A few comments about road noise when windows are open slightly affect the score.
The property is well-equipped with everything needed for a stay, including a well-thought-out kitchen and extra amenities. Some guests suggested additional storage for wet items, but overall, the facilities are highly rated.
The hosts' thoughtfulness is frequently mentioned, with guests appreciating the welcome packs and provisions for both humans and pets. While these gestures are highly valued, it is noted that such treats may vary and are not guaranteed.
This character, mid-terrace cottage sits in the highly desirable market town of Ashbourne. Set over three floors, Robin’s Nook is a great choice for those seeking a gateway to the Peak District while accessing the many amenities of Ashbourne. Upon arrival, step through the panelled front door into the kitchen/diner, equipped to a great standard, here you can utilise a range of appliances and gloss white units to prepare home-cooked meals, whether it be a delicious supper or a hearty breakfast. Continue to the first floor and discover the sitting room, here you can unwind upon the sofa as you reflect on the day’s events, or tune into the Smart TV and catch up on your favourite shows. A final set of stairs leads to the bedroom, home to a double bed and ample storage space, plus a well-appointed shower room where you can prepare for the day. On warmer days, take a refreshing beverage out to the enclosed courtyard, or find a local pub and enjoy a pint in the beer garden followed by some tasty grub. This classic market town is known as being a real haven for antique hunters, whilst the scenic Ashbourne Park is ideal for family picnics and afternoon strolls. Wander around the town and you might stumble across the marketplace, boasting medieval structures and plenty of wonder to explore, here you can expect to find a scatter of shops, bars and restaurants, an art gallery and a selection of cafes; ideal for socialising and local entertainment, providing you and your loved one hours of fun. Take yourself further afield and visit Matlock, home to the popular Peak Rail which journeys through dramatic scenery, visit the town of Bolsover, home to Bolsover Castle, Castle Leisure Park and Carr Vale Nature Reserve, with the unspoilt beauty of the Peak District is also not to be missed. However you choose to spend your precious holiday time, return to Robin’s Nook and recharge for the next adventure.
Ashbourne is a superb example of an English market town, having a market place with vendors, an odd street pattern, small cobbled lanes, coaching inns, and almshouses. It is located near the southern extremity of the Peak District. The town was a fashionable social centre in the 18th century, and many excellent Georgian structures from that era still stand today. The town still has a lot to offer in terms of restaurants and inns, and it's considered a haven for antique hunters - but don't anticipate a good deal! The Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by for people who want more outdoor activities. It'll just take you 20 minutes to go to Alton Towers.
