About this property

Victoria Park is an endearing, four-storey, end-terrace townhouse situated in the heart of Buxton, Derbyshire. Victoria Park is an ideal pet-friendly dwelling for a group or family of six, plus their two canine companions, who are looking to explore the magnificent Peak District National Park. The charming Victorian exterior of the property includes steps that lead up to the front door and has access to the garage. Entering into the property, you are greeted by the contemporary sitting and dining room to the right, which includes a wood burner, a 3-seater sofa, a 2-seater sofa and an additional chair, a Smart TV, and a selection of books, making it the perfect area to gather and unwind or catch up with loved ones. To the left of the dining room, and down a set of stairs to the cellar, guests can benefit from the games room with TV, dart board & table football that the property provides; you will also find a tumble dryer on this floor. Following from the sitting/dining area, you will be greeted by a bright, spacious and contemporary kitchen, suitable for all your culinary needs, featuring an electric oven, gas hob, washing machine, fridge and dishwasher. The kitchen is light and airy with a backdoor that leads out to the enclosed rear yard. Climb the staircase to the first floor and you'll find a contemporary bathroom including a stylish L-shaped bath with shower, so you can prepare for the day in style. To the right of the landing is a well-presented double bedroom fit for a good night's sleep for the next fun-packed day, with plenty of lighting and storage space for belongings. Beyond this at the top of the hallway is a large, contemporary bedroom featuring a king-size bed, chest of drawers, desk and chair, welcoming lighting, and impressive hillside views to wake up to every day. The third floor includes an additional room for storage and is ideal for a travel cot. In a separate room to the left of this, a stylish king-size bedroom can be found, complete with contemporary furnishings. A shower room completes the layout, ideal for guests using the top floor bedroom. The property benefits from a town centre location, where you can find a wide variety of shops, pubs, and restaurants to o choose from, superb walking and cycling opportunities amongst gentle hills and dales views, as well as a number of interesting attractions including The Great Stable, the semi-circular Crescent, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens, The Opera House, the Cavendish and Peak Practice golf club, and the Peak District National Park. Victoria Park is perfect for families and friends alike wishing to explore the vast Peak District National Park and the breath-taking surrounding areas of this astounding region.

The bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs, which maintain a constant 28 degrees Celsius, first drew the Romans to the town. That being said, it was under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire that Buxton's Palladian splendour, including the spectacular semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable and Hall Bank, The Square and the Pavilion Gardens as well as the Opera House were built between 1800 and 1900. With a full opera house's schedule of performances and annual festivals of the arts and music, tourists can still enjoy these magnificent structures and gardens.

Broken lamp bulb in lamp. Hair in shower plugholes. Greasy, dirty oven trays and hob splashbacks. Definitely not vacuumed around edges or fireplace prior to arrival. Asked to clean before departure - no cloths, empty cleaning product bottles. The vacuum cleaner dropped more fluff than it picked up! The dryer water filter was overflowing when we went to use it. Parking in garage impossible as always cars parked in front of it. Somewhat underwhelmed.

It was well-positioned in the centre of Buxton, easy to park two cars, and extremely comfortable except for one bedroom (hence losing one mark). The house is very well equipped. It was easy to park, and Morrisons is only a walk away. You could have a good holiday here without a car, as everything is so close. Of the three double bedrooms, one has the boiler in, with a sign to not switch it off. However, having the boiler on meant the room roasted, and was extremely difficult to sleep in. Also, the boiler timer ticked incessantly all night, and anyone switching a tap on made a very loud noise in the pipes in that room. You could also hear any noise in the room below from there. My son and his wife who were in the room did switch the boiler off so they could sleep, which meant we had no hot water to shower in the morning until he woke up and we could switch it on again. Inside the house was very clean. However, outside, the gate to the neighbour's back yard was broken and off its hinges (and we had a dog with us), and the passage between the two houses was scruffy, particularly compared to others in the row, with broken slates, etc. on the ground (hence one mark off for cleanliness). Overall, we were very pleased with our stay, which we felt was better than our expectations.

The welcome pack was superb and the provision of logs for the wood burner was greatly appreciated and saw us through the first 2-3 days. Lots of books, games and jigsaw puzzles was a nice touch too. The kitchen was a good size, with all key appliances and the first floor bathroom was very good. Living room chairs very comfortable and the dining table was a good size, plenty big enough for 6 people. The beds were all very comfortable, everyone slept well. We did have a small issue with the dishwasher, and the owners responded really quickly to get it sorted. The on-street parking was easier than we had feared, even when we had three cars there. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.
