The Loft, a charming cottage in the Peak District, receives high praise for its stunning views, peaceful setting, and friendly hosts. Guests enjoy the added luxury of a hot tub and sauna, and the property's dog-friendly nature is a hit with animal lovers. The spacious accommodation and comfortable beds are frequently mentioned, alongside the joy of being greeted by the owners' dogs. While some guests note areas for improvement, the overall experience is one of relaxation and enjoyment in a beautiful rural location.
Most guests find The Loft clean and tidy, contributing to a pleasant stay. However, a few reviews mention issues with cleanliness, such as cobwebs and kitchen cleanliness, which slightly lowers the score.
The location is consistently praised for its stunning views, peaceful countryside setting, and proximity to local walks and towns. It serves as an excellent base for exploring the Peak District.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the accommodation spacious. The presence of friendly farm animals adds to the comfort level. Some guests mention the inconvenience of bedroom layout and low beams, which slightly affects the score.
The facilities, including a hot tub, sauna, and billiard table, are popular among guests. However, some reviews cite maintenance issues and a need for additional bathrooms, which impacts the score.
There is insufficient information regarding the presence of gifts or special touches provided by the hosts to accurately assess thoughtfulness. Therefore, this score is set to null.
A superb, stone-built, Grade II listed detached cottage, in open countryside in the hamlet of Millthorpe, 5 miles from Baslow. Converted from a stable block, most of the accommodation is set over the first floor, including the split-level living room with cruck beams, a cosy sitting area and a games area with a bar billiard table. The accommodation offers exposed stonework and original beams, plus private use of a hot tub and sauna. The lovely courtyard garden provides fantastic views, whilst within walking distance is an award-winning pub, serving real ales and fabulous food. Within reach of the many walks and attractions of the area, this is an ideal base to get away from it all and enjoy the magnificent Peak District.
On the edge of the Peak District National Park between Bakewell and Sheffield is the hamlet of Millthorpe with splendid views of the Cordwell Valley. The hamlet is set among rolling countryside and the neighbouring villages are made up of traditional old houses and buildings. The area has a number of hostelries and restaurants waiting to be discovered and Hathersage is close by with more in the way of amenities. In the summer there is an outdoor pool, the churchyard is said to be the burial place of Little John, and Charlotte Bronte is thought to have got her inspiration for Jane Eyre after she had visited friends in Hathersage, so despite its small size, Millthorpe has had quite an influence on its surrounding area. With both the Peak District and Sheffield so close, Millthorpe is an ideal base for a holiday.

Fabulous walking on the doorstep- a number of nice pubs locally also. Will likely stay again. Good value.

We very much enjoyed the sauna and jacuzzi plus the friendly dogs. However, we would have greatly appreciated an information pack - we had to work the cooker from trial and error and when the electric tripped, we didn't know where the fuse box was. Also a welcome pack of basics and cleaning materials would have been useful.

Upon arrival the place was dirty full of cobwebs so not been cleaned for a bit There was nothing to clean the place with only a smidging of washing up liquid We had to go to the local Tesco to purchase cleaning equipment inc air fresheners The whole place smelt really bad we had to open all windows fir most of the day to get rid of some of it The kitchen pans and utensils were not up to cooking anything pans again old and rusty There was a small fridge that would not close so nothing getting cold there was an American fridge again this was dirty and full of marks were something had been spilt In one bedroom there were stains on sheet In terms of the location the pics on advert are a little misleading as there is a house across the court yard ( did not see anything of them thou ) The court yard is open not secured and the owners dog kept barking but friendly enough when it got used to you been there Was a bit annoying as we wanted to sit outside You need to be careful as living room is on mezzanine floor so if you had young children you might want to check stair gate There was no welcome pack or instructions how to use anything in the property we manged to sus it out but thatâs not the point there should be information The bedrooms are all linked together so you walk through each one to get to the bathroom Sauna and hot tub were good and worked well again tho cobwebs and dirty The hot tub didnât seemed to be maintained Or was anything to check the oh ect I have photos if required There is a nice view over the countryside I would not recommend this place at all I would have been better camping And if you are wondering I would have gone straight home but we had come straight from our daughters wedding and was having some work done on our house so we had to just suck it up We did leave a day early
