Offering luxury touches and a contemporary interior, whilst well-positioned near a host of amenities and the prime location of the Peak District National Park, Snug Cottage offers an idyllic base for a rural escape. Park up to the roadside before passing through the front patio, and into the home with your belongings. Be welcomed into the homely open-plan living space, complete with a leather sofa and armchair, a charming gas fire with a stone chimney, and a Smart TV, where you can unwind before preparing delicious meals in the fully-equipped kitchen. Find everything you'll need for a self-catered stay, including a dishwasher and a washer/dryer, along with a dedicated dining area to gather as a group. If you'd prefer to dine outdoors, set the patio table, and enjoy an alfresco affair with a glass of wine in hand. As the night unfolds, head upstairs to locate two well-appointed bedrooms, including a double with TV, and a single, both serviced by a chic bathroom, flooded with natural light. Awaken to tour the area, with The Butchers Arms on your doorstep for days when you fancy dining out, whilst a post office and a convenience store rests in Scholes. For a day outdoors, hike to the breath-taking landscape of Folly Dolly Falls, stroll around Blackmoorfoot Reservoir, or climb up to the Castle Hill landmark, enveloped by sweeping countryside. Travel into the old traditional town of Holmfirth, renowned for being the filming location of The Last of The Summer Wine TV series, arriving at a host of amenities and attractions including the North of England’s finest live music venue, The Picturedrome. Benefitting also from a superb public swimming pool and fitness centre, parks and a great array of shops, pubs and restaurants where you can treat your loved ones to some hearty fare, there is plenty to see and do. Be sure to pack your walking boots to trek through the Cromwell Bottom Nature Reserve, also a notable area for birdwatching, before reaching Halifax and its Bankfield Museum, and Shibden Park, recognised under the Woodland Trust. Take to West Yorkshire with Snug Cottage as your abode.

A short distance from Holmfirth, Scholes is a small rural village in Kirklees, West Yorkshire, surrounded by open space. A cricket club and winding country paths for cycling and walking may be found in the village. The Boot and Shoe Inn, with its rustic setting and home-cooked food and drinks, is a terrific place to eat out. It also has a post office with all the necessities. You can reach the vibrant town of Holmfirth, which is located in the stunning Wye Valley and has independent eateries and wonderful footpaths, by taking a leisurely drive. The cottage had a recent renovation and is very tastefully done. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Annabelle and her cottage. Great host with a lovely little welcome gift.

It would have been a bit easier if it had a back garden for the dog. But we managed OK.
