Guests say

Lantern Cottage is praised for its excellent location in the heart of Rye, offering great views and a quiet setting. Guests appreciate the property's charm, with comfortable beds and a cosy atmosphere. However, some guests note that the seating could be more comfortable and the steep stairs may not suit everyone.

The cottage received mixed feedback on cleanliness. While some guests found it clean and tidy, others noted cobwebs and unemptied bins, suggesting room for improvement in this area.

The location is highly commended for being central, quiet, and convenient, with easy access to local attractions and amenities.

Comfort levels are varied among guests. The beds are frequently described as comfortable, but several reviews criticise the low and soft seating in the living area.

Facilities are adequate but several guests reported maintenance issues such as unreliable Wi-Fi, leaky windows, and damaged kitchenware, indicating a need for attention to detail.

There is insufficient information to assess thoughtfulness as there are no consistent mentions of gifts or special touches that would enhance guests' experiences.

The cottage was more spacious than expected. The central heating works very well and the cottage quickly warms up on a cold day. There are great views across the countryside towards Winchelsea from the bedroom windows. Everything was clean and tidy. The beds are very comfortable. Some previous reviewers mentioned the steepness of the stairs. We found this not to be an issue for us, and we have stayed at other cottages in Rye with much steeper staircases.

    Highly recommended.

There was lots of cobwebs around the windows inside upstairs and downstairs also lots around the toilet. The cottage has lovely comfortable beds and lovely soft towels and it's very quiet but I think some extra cleaning would help .
