Pack up a picnic and head to the beach for the day – you’ll be spoilt for choice with Sandown (7.5 miles), Seaview (10.5 miles) and Ventnor (10 miles) all nearby. Alternatively, spend a glorious afternoon at Carisbrooke Castle (3 miles), where Charles I was once held prisoner, or head into the idyllic village of Godshill (4 miles) to check out its thatched cottages, gift shops and pubs.
