Guests consistently praise the cottage for its charm, cleanliness, and comfort. Its proximity to local amenities, the beach, and its peaceful garden are frequently highlighted. The property is well-furnished and the host, Suzanne, is commended for her helpfulness. While parking is off-site, it's not seen as a major issue.
Reviewers consistently mention the cottage being well kept and spotlessly clean, indicating high standards of cleanliness.
The location is highly praised for being close to shops, restaurants, and the beach, though the steep hill and off-site parking are noted.
Comfort is frequently commended, with specific mentions of comfy beds and pillows, and a cosy atmosphere.
Facilities are generally well-received, with positive comments on the well-equipped kitchen and garden area. However, one review mentioned limited TV channels and another found the kitchen narrow for cooking, slightly affecting the score.
The host's thoughtfulness is evident through mentions of a welcome pack and a bottle of Prosecco on arrival. However, it should be noted that such gifts are gestures of kindness and may not be guaranteed for every stay.
Positioned in the centre of Ventnor, a beautiful Victorian, coastal town in the Isle of Wight is 1 Tulse Hill Cottages, a delightful, two-bedroom dwelling. Just paces away from a whole host of eateries, the beach, shops, and great transport links, whilst enjoying a country-style interior, and a rear, decked garden, the cottage welcomes four guests and two furry companions, offering the ideal base for a family break near an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Unload your luggage on the roadside, before parking up in one of the two nearby public car parks, or hopping off the bus, before taking a short walk to the cottage, firstly entering the dining room, where you can enjoy formal meals as a group. Continue through to the lovely sitting room, featuring plush seating, a Smart TV with DVD, and an electric log burner style fire, offering the perfect setting to unwind and settle into your break. The kitchen is well-equipped with a range of appliances to ease your self-catered stay, where you can rustle up delicious meals, before dining alfresco upon the sunny elevated decked area. When sleep calls, select between a double and a twin room, both with Jack-and-Jill access into the sleek shower room. Come morning, stock up on the essentials at one of the nearby convenience stores, or stroll to Toni's cafe, on Ventnor beach for coffee and croissant. For lunch or evening meal, plan to dine out at Cantina, the Drunken Lobster, the Spyglass inn, or one of many other great nearby pubs and restaurants, or stroll to the harbour and buy some locally caught fresh seafood. Before heading to the beach, practise your swing at the local golf club, tour the Ventnor Heritage Museum, or ramble through the Ventnor Botanic Garden, dotted with exotic plans and pretty blooms, or enjoy one of the many coastal walks. Within proximity you'll also reach the magnificent grounds of Appuldurcombe House, Devil's Chimney, a breath-taking vantage point, and Amazon World Zoo, a family favourite, among many others nearby. Towards Newport, enjoy a tour of Carisbrooke Castle, discover the Monkey Haven - Primate Rescue Centre, or brush up on your local knowledge at the Museum of Island History, whilst Cowes offers a delightful coastal setting, where you can follow the Red Squirrel Trail, to reach the harbour. Experience all of this at 1 Tulse Hill Cottages.
At the southernmost point of the island, the small Victorian beach town of Ventnor is reachable through a number of winding, hilly roads that are surrounded by stunning landscape. This picturesque hamlet, which is protected by St. Boniface Down, one of the island's highest points and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, has a very warm microclimate that encourages the growth of exotic and tropical flora all over the place. While the harbour provides a wide variety of fresh fish and locally caught seafood, the gently sloping sandy and fine shingle beaches and coves give good facilities for watersports and offer a variety of breath-taking coastal routes to explore. With a good selection of top-notch eateries, bistros, bars, and stores along the esplanade and close to the town centre, Ventnor is one of the Isle of Wight's most prominent dining destinations.

The cottage is perfect for a stay in Ventnor. Close to shops, bus stop & car parks, it is ideal for exploring locally, or further afield. Perfectly dog friendly, the cottage was great for 3 adults & our 2 pups. It is clean, cosy & well equipped. Suzanne is responsive & helpful. We wouldn't hesitate to book again. Thank you!

A lovely deck in the back garden - perfect on a sunny day. Close to the High Street and only a short walk to the Esplanade. Parking a car at the property is not possible and so there is a need to add the cost of using one of the nearby public car parks. We found the IOW tourist permit (£70) ideal as this allowed us to park anywhere on the island for the whole week. Only slight problem is that the cottage is located at the bottom of a very steep hill and this could make things difficult for those that may have walking difficulties.

The kitchen was so narrow and small it made any form of cooking tricky. Apart from the fridge there is no where to store food There is a toilet at the far end of the kitchen which can only be accessed if there is no one else in the kitchen. The cottage is quaint and cosy but space is at a premium which can be over powering at times. The hill from the town is short but very very steep. Not for the faint hearted.
