Poole has a whole host of water sports activities, as well as day trips to Brownsea Island, where guests can explore the wildlife at the local National Trust site and visit Brownsea Castle or The Vinery. Close by there are a selection of golf courses, as well as fantastic sandy beaches, including Sandbanks Beach, Hamworthy Beach and Southbourne Beach. Visit Hartland Moor National Nature Reserve to check out the vibrant wildlife, or spend a day at Bournemouth, where there is an aquarium, beach, pier, West Cliff Zig-Zag walk, and an abundance of eateries and shops. Make the most of the scenery at one of the following locations: Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Dorset AONB or the New Forest National Park, all ideal for hiking, birdwatching and mountain biking. The town of Poole is dominated by one of the world's biggest natural harbours, which features five pine clad islands and regular boat trips. The largest of these islands is Brownsea Island, where Baden Powell began the Scout Movement. To the west is the 'Isle of Purbeck', which offers visitors scenic countryside, dotted with quaint villages and stunning seascapes, plus Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and Corfe Castle are well worth a visit. The local beaches at Sandbanks provide excellent facilities for all kinds of watersports. Alternatively, visit the neighbouring family friendly seaside resort of Bournemouth and within driving distance is the fascinating New Forest National Park. An excellent holiday destination at any time of the year.
