Further afield, the popular town of Falmouth makes an educational day out, home to Henry VIII's Pendennis Castle and another lovely beach, Gyllyngvase Beach, as well as a good selection of eateries. Enjoy walking from Sandyfeet down Roscroggan Valley, within the area named “Red River” due to staining from tin, creating a unique landscape shaped by mining, or visit the close by Tuckingmill valley Park. The local area was rich in mineral mining, and to find out more about this head over to Heartland’s world heritage site, grabbing a bite to eat at the Red River café along the way. For a more action-packed afternoon head over to Godvrey or Gwithian where you will find two surf schools. Sandyfeet is the ideal base for however you spend your days.

Camborne is located in the heart of a former mining community and was famous for its "Queen of Cornish Mines," the Dolcoath copper and tin mine, which is the deepest in Cornwall. Heartlands, a community space covering 19 acres and scattered with mining industry remnants, is now open to the public, providing a free space for visitors to explore Cornwall's heritage, browse art and craft projects, stroll through the gardens, and sit and share a picnic or enjoy lunch at the Red River Café. From the town centre, you can take an interesting town trail or spend the afternoon in the museum before exploring the shops and pubs.
