Guests say

Chi Gwynn in Newquay, Cornwall, is a spacious and well-equipped cottage with beautiful views, secure gardens for pets, and a convenient location close to the beach and local amenities. While guests appreciate the modern amenities and the property's potential, several reviews highlight issues with cleanliness and maintenance that need addressing.

Cleanliness is a significant concern among reviewers, with multiple reports of dust, cobwebs, dirty floors, and pet hair. Some guests found the property not cleaned to a satisfactory standard upon arrival, affecting their overall experience.

The property's location is highly praised, being in a quiet area with easy access to local pubs, shops, and the beach. The proximity to coastal walks and Newquay adds to its appeal.

The house is described as spacious and comfortable, with ample space for large groups and dogs. However, some guests' comfort was marred by cleanliness issues.

Facilities like high-end appliances, a Jacuzzi, and secure gardens are appreciated, but there are repeated mentions of maintenance issues such as a non-working hot tub, broken appliances, and lack of cleanliness in the hot tub.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the owner towards the guests, so it is not possible to provide a score for this category.

It's situated in a quiet road, within walking distance to the pub and beach, it's very secluded with the back garden backing onto fields and you can just about see the sea from the bedroom windows. But there are a few things that need addressing which you can see from other peoples comments this year. The property for us was clean, apart from the hot tub which we're not sure was emptied before our arrival. We arrived just after 3pm and it was already at 40 degrees so from the previous checkout at 10am that is very quick to get it up to temperature. There were scum marks around two of the headrests which we cleaned ourselves but over the week the whole tub started to look dirty and you could clearly see where I had drawn lines in it. I would query the chemical levels and certainly nobody came back to check it during our stay. The hot tap in the kitchen definitely doesn't work, we could only get cold water out of it and then we noticed a big puddle from the unit in the cupboard underneath the sink so stopped using it and used the kettle instead. And the rubbish bin was completely full when we arrived, we put the bin out as requested but it wasn't collected so we had to leave all our rubbish in a bag in the utility. The owner has responded and addressed comments throughout the year which is good and I think if they give it some love over the winter and make it feel a bit more homely then it could be great. We would consider it again but only once the scores & comments have improved.

It had not been cleaned on time for our arrival, could not go back to property until 20:30 as it was being “cleaned”. I ended up washing bedding myself as the beds were covered in hair and pillows had make up on. Carpets had not been hoovered. Hot tub couldn’t be used as it was in eco and not heating so we lost 2 days of hot tub use. It is a shame that such a beautiful property is not being used to its potential. We did not even have an apology from the owner just her saying “my systems never wrong”, well in this case, I believe it very well was. We were very disappointed and will not be returning to this property.

The house was clean and comfortable with plenty of space for six adults and the dogs. Only niggle is lack of facilities for recycling and no advice about where we could take it - this i suspect is to do with the council and not the owner! Would love to book Chi Gwynn again and would recommend
