Swallows Nest in Cornwall offers a comfortable and well-equipped stay with a modern kitchen, cosy living spaces, and a private garden. Guests appreciate the property's proximity to coastal paths and local attractions. While some guests encountered issues with cleanliness and maintenance, the majority found the cottage to be a delightful and peaceful retreat, with many looking forward to returning.
Guests have had mixed experiences with cleanliness. Some found the property to be clean and comfortable, while others reported issues with dust, mould, and insufficient cleaning of floors and kitchen surfaces. The responsiveness to cleanliness complaints appears to vary.
The location is highly praised for its proximity to the South West Coastal path, local galleries, and historical sites. The rural village setting and nearby beaches contribute to a restful holiday experience, with many guests enjoying the local walks and the ease of access to nearby towns.
The majority of guests found the cottage to be comfortable, with modern furnishings and a cosy atmosphere. Some guests mentioned the beds being too firm and issues with underfloor heating, but overall, the comfort level is regarded as high.
Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable living areas. However, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as mouldy shower hoses, non-working light bulbs, and inadequate heating instructions. The well-appointed kitchen and attention to detail in decor were appreciated.
While some guests mentioned a welcome pack upon arrival, there is not enough consistent information about thoughtful gestures such as gifts to accurately assess this category. Therefore, it cannot be guaranteed that such amenities will be provided.

Great living space with plenty of room to socialise and be cosy. Super clean and comfortable. A great launch pad for walking and short drives to lovely areas to explore.

Unfortunately, this time, we noticed a decline in cleanliness and maintenance of the property. On arrival, although the floors had been washed, there was a lot of wet puddles, resulting in soggy socksâ¦..as we always remove our outdoor shoes on entering. We had to mop up in the lounge and kitchen. There wasnât any clean tea towels, only three wet dirty ones, which I had to wash before use. There was hardly any toilet paper on the roll holders to use before we did a shop. Weâve always had a full unused one previously, and itâs not hygienic to use someone elseâs leftovers. There wasnât any antibacterial hand wash in the downstairs bedroom shower room. The bedroom also had cobwebs and lots of dirt and dust behind the bedside tables and on skirting boards. It looks like it hasnât been cleaned for months. Also, more importantly, the outside bedroom wall has black mould spores going quite a long way up. I know that can be contributed to people not using the shower room fan or opening windows, but it does need treatment. Itâs not healthy to sleep in these conditions. The dining room carpet has quite a few stains, which could easily be cleaned. Also, the door into the garden was very difficult to open, we had to oil the lock after several attempts. I think both bathrooms need the tiles re-grouting as theyâre looking quite grubby. There also needs to be a privacy blind in the upstairs bathroom. We had to cover the bottom half of the window with a towel! We also missed the usual complimentary cream tea on arrival, which was a godsend after a long journey. Would rather have gone without the huge bag of sugar, handful of tea bags, coffee and biscuits.

Once a blacksmithâs, the cottage has been really tastefully restored and furnished. An amazing kitchen space to cook and eat (with everything you need) and a really comfortable lounge with a log burner to rest the bones after long walks on the beach. Very close to St Just, Penzance, Newlyn and St Ives for provisions (super fishmongers in Newlyn) and trips out. Plenty of beaches nearby - Sennen and Gwithian bing our favourites. Right on the coastal path too. A wonderful inter stay and we will definitely be back.
