Guests say

Guests consistently praise 4 Mowhay Cottages for its cleanliness, comfort, and prime location for exploring Cornwall's stunning beaches and attractions. The warmth of the Aga and the thoughtful touches, such as a welcome pack, contribute to a homely and enjoyable stay. The property's peaceful setting and proximity to scenic walks make it a favourite for both human and canine visitors.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviewers unanimously commend the cottage for its spotless condition, indicating meticulous attention to cleanliness and upkeep.

The cottage's location is highly praised for its proximity to beautiful beaches, coastal paths, and local attractions like The Lost Gardens of Heligan, making it an ideal base for exploring Cornwall.

The cottage is repeatedly described as warm, cosy, and comfortable, with special mentions of the Aga's contribution to the homely atmosphere, although a few guests noted the stairs could be challenging for some.

Facilities are generally well-received, with the Aga, washer, and dryer being appreciated. However, some guests expressed a preference for a conventional cooker, and there were isolated comments about limited food storage space and the need for a stair gate for pets.

Guests frequently mention the thoughtful touches, such as welcome packs and folded towels. While these are appreciated, it is politely noted that such extras, while delightful, are subject to availability and not guaranteed.

About this property

Gorran Haven 1.5 miles. Perfectly located for family beach holidays with a choice of three within walking distance, this charming character cottage is located only a half a mile along the adjoining footpath to the pretty fishing village of Gorran Haven, 3.5 miles from Mevagissey. All the family will immediately feel at home on entering this characterful cottage. Passing through the enclosed front garden you enter onto the first floor. There are three bedrooms offering a double, a double zip-link bedroom and a single all on the first floor along with the bathroom. On the ground floor are the cosy sitting room with open fire for the cooler evenings and the kitchen/diner with the feature being the warming AGA. A separate entrance from the shared courtyard garden provides direct access to the ground floor making it ideal for dog walkers. Gorran Haven is an unspoilt fishing village nestled around a secluded cove which remains much the same as in years gone by. The two sandy beaches here offer some of the safest swimming in Cornwall as well as giving you the opportunity to try kayaking with kayaks being available to hire. With dogs allowed on the beach (on leads between Easter and September, subject to bylaws) this really is the perfect family beach. After a day on the beach a small selection of cafés, restaurants, a pub and a renowned fish and chip shop offer a great choice of refreshments before wandering back to the cottage. A great location for family holidays all year round.

Once a crab fishing village, Gorran Haven on the south coast of Cornwall is ideally placed to explore the many beaches and coves in the area. Gorran Haven has a small sandy beach, connecting with the longer Great Perhaver beach at low tide. Much of the coastline in this area is owned by the National Trust, including the 370 feet high Dodman Point, rising above Gorran, which is thought to be one of Cornwall’s most dramatic headlands, and the cause of many a shipwreck.

The place was immaculate and very homely. The little touches were very thoughtful and it was literally a home away from home. My girls (3) ask every day “when are we going to our holiday home!” Thank you for a wonderful stay and we will definitely be booking again.
