Set in sublime South Devonshire countryside between the Blackdown Hills and the Jurassic Coast, this four-bedroom barn conversion is perfect for family get-togethers and sparkling celebrations. Part of a beef and sheep farm, 11 miles northwest of Sidmouth and 19 miles northeast of Exeter, you'll enjoy the best of the landscape, seaside and city. Up to eight guests will adore the tranquillity surrounding the property, the lovely pub at nearby Payhembury and the plethora of local attractions. The Yarak Bird of Prey Centre (4 miles) makes a splendid day out; those eager for speed will love Raceworld (10.5 miles), the South West's premier karting venue, while thrill-seekers should try Skydive Buzz (8 miles) to view the countryside from a more exhilarating perspective. Chill out again at the Otter Valley Dairy (11.5 miles) with its delectable pizzas, coffee and ice cream. On colder days, gather round the firepit while the kids paddle by the river's shingle beach.
Three steps lead up from the private pathway adjoining a similar property. Inside you'll find a stylish interior, blending old rural charm with quirky contemporary artwork and artefacts. The hallway will have chins wagging and eager minds wondering what's to come – an old church pew and a straw-horned beast won't be forgotten! The open-plan lounge/diner is glorious, with its high apex ceiling, skylight windows, wood burner, industrial style tables and chairs, wooden beams, exposed brick wall, sweeping corner sofa and fabulous fabrics; the sunlight loves to play in here. Cook up a storm of local farm treats and seafood in the bewitching kitchen, with its country vistas, giant clock, sleek worktops and ergonomic storage. Drift downstairs after evenings filled with good food and great company, to find four dreamy bedrooms and a bathroom with glorious freestanding bath. The bedrooms feel like sanctuaries themselves, with their sumptuous views, minimal chic and deep, dove-like duvets; two of the king-size bedrooms also have superb en-suites. Ascending steps from the kitchen, unwind outside with BBQs and breathtaking views in the enclosed garden, whilst the kids enjoy the communal courtyard's play area.
