A beautiful stone terraced cottage resting in the picturesque town of Uplyme, Dorset. With a local pub and the Jurassic coast just a short drive away, this historic property is perfect for a couple’s getaway or a family looking to explore Dorset. Park on-road and take in the stone front of this quaint cottage, noting how it is full of character, welcoming you into a fantastic open-plan living area. here, a woodburning stove will warm your feet as you relax in the stylish furniture, taking in the traditional aspect of the cottage including roof beams in a dark wood, before utilising the handy kitchen to cook a heart-warming meal, serving it on the stylish kitchen table where you can enjoy a meal with all guests. After a long day at the beach, a bathroom with contemporary black tiles offers a relaxing soak amongst the bubbles or a refreshing shower. There are two bedrooms sleeping up to four guests, starting with a double room where high ceilings and ample storage make you feel at home, and the second bedroom offers a single futon bed or a loft bunk, where two guests can be accommodated. The beautiful countryside surrounding the village of Uplyme, on the borders of Devon and Dorset, is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, criss-crossed by bridleways and footpaths including the East Devon Way, and providing perfect country walks and superb views. The area was chosen by TV chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall for his River Cottage HQ at Park Farm, where you can treat yourself to a great meal. Just a short drive takes you to the stunning Jurassic Coast at Lyme Regis. This delightful historic seaside town boasts a maze of narrow streets, with an interesting array of shops and cafes, whilst the sandy beach lends itself to great bathing and watersports, and the bustling little harbour offers regular fishing trips, or try your hand at fossil hunting. Within an easy drive is the quaint town of Axminster, or how about a ride on the Seaton Tramway? A glorious location for a varied and interesting holiday.

The River Lim path is a great way to access Lyme Regis; particularly good to see the brown trout and the weir. Lyme Regis is lovely too. We would recommend visiting Dorchester, Sidmouth, Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton and Charmouth. Many eateries and coffee shops. We would thoroughly recommend The Black Dog at Uplyme for an excellent lunch at a very reasonable price. The local countryside is beautiful too.

Very clean and has everything you need to make you feel at home. Love the fact there is a hoover etc. Fabulous walk to the beach by the river and so close to drive to the beach (5 min drive) Really is in a good position for everything you want to do. My granddaughter loved the raised level bed and hasn't stopped talking about it. The cottage is warm and cosy with a homely feel with a very well equipped kitchen. 10/10

However we were unhappy that the cottage is right on an extremely busy and noisy road, and that this is not made clear on the write up for this property. It only says that it is in a rural setting. You cannot stop anywhere near to the property to unload, and the only parking is a few spaces slightly up on the other side of the busy road. If all the spaces are taken thatâs a problem. The cleanliness was ok on the whole but there were areas that had been missed and the cleaning needs improvement. Would stay in Uplyme again for sure but not here because of its location.
