Thrushel Cottage is frequently praised for its cleanliness, picturesque location, and well-equipped kitchen. Guests appreciate the secure garden for pets and children, and the thoughtful welcome gifts. Some concerns are raised about bed comfort and heating issues, but the overall sentiment is positive with many looking to return.
The majority of guests have reported the cottage to be very clean and tidy, with only a few isolated comments about specific cleaning issues. The high level of cleanliness is consistently noted across reviews.
The location is described as peaceful and great for exploring Devon and Cornwall. Proximity to local amenities and the tranquil setting next to the river are highlighted. However, some guests mentioned a lack of mobile phone service.
While many guests find the cottage cosy and the kitchen modern, there are repeated complaints about the comfort of the beds, particularly in the main bedroom. The heating system also received mixed reviews.
Facilities are generally well-received, especially the kitchen. However, there are negative comments regarding the heating system, lack of Wi-Fi, and some maintenance issues like broken windows and garden upkeep, which affect the score.
Guests often mention and appreciate the welcome gifts, such as cream teas and scones, which add a thoughtful touch to their arrival. However, it should be noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and may not be guaranteed for every stay.

As one of the guests in September said, no bathroom blind and no frosting so you do feel a little exposed!! We put a towel up, but not ideal. A small hand towel in the kitchen would be appreciated, but I always take my own now, in case. Apart from the heating not coming on until overnight the first night, it was a beautiful place to stay and once warm, stayed warm. Good windows mean it's wonderfully quiet too. Would go back. Thank you.

The village was a nice place to relax in the evening, very friendly people. As for the cottage it was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. It was a lovely touch by the owner to leave sconces, jam and cream, thank you they were lovely. I only have one comment/ suggestion, if you could put a blind up in the bathroom it would have made my wife more comfortable having a shower.
