Downside Cottage in Beaminster offers a warm, comfortable stay with stunning views and a friendly atmosphere. Guests appreciate the rural charm, farm animals, and the property's proximity to local attractions. The cottage's conservatory, open fire, and well-equipped kitchen are highlights, though some guests noted areas for improvement.
Most guests found the cottage to be clean and comfortable. However, a few reviews mentioned issues with cleanliness, such as cobwebs and a dirty kettle, which suggests room for improvement in this area.
The location is highly praised for its tranquility, beautiful views, and proximity to local sights. The rural setting on a working farm adds to the charm, although the narrow access lane was noted by some guests.
Guests generally found the cottage to be cosy and the beds comfortable. The presence of an open fire and conservatory added to the comfort level, though there were comments about an old mattress and noisy floorboards.
The facilities are described as appropriate and well-equipped, particularly the kitchen. However, some guests mentioned that certain aspects, such as the conservatory heating and maintenance issues, could be improved.
While some guests were pleased with the level of communication and the recycling efforts, there were no consistent mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

The bed and sofa's were lovely. The bin in the kitchen wasn't emptied and didn't realise about the farm and the size until Monday as the information was under the table not on top.

It was homely and a nice place to have as our base for the week. Would definitely recommend.
